well its official my sea doo blew its engine not sure exactly what went wrong but thats what the mechanic said. i was thinking of trying to rebuild and install one my self. it has a 720 in it right now i was wondering if i could go up in size without much more work??? i know a little about sea doos and have close friends who are very mechanically inclined there engineers and mechanics. anyways in trying to do this on my own am i getting in over my head??? it'll be me and my son doing most of the work he wants to rebuild it to learn more about it but i'm not so sure if its a good idea??? any advice?????

i think all 587s 657s and 720s are fairly interchangable.. as far as going up in size the next size up would be the 787 and i belive it has different mounts meaning u would have to fiberglass new mounts to put a 787 in a previously occupied 720.. simply its ALOT of work to go bigger..

You should have someone who can tell you more than your engine is blown look at. It could be just top end or something like that. Which is way cheaper than replacing the whole engine.

Also, there was prolly a cause to whatever happened that may not be in the engine. So finding out exactly what went wrong and how it went wrong would be my first approach.
