I was wondering where to get the 2 stroke oil in 5 qt jugs? I have a walmart and the dealership mainly carrys 4 strokes.

David

I buy Quicksilver PWC mineral oil at WalMart in 1 gal. containers, never seen it in a 5 qt. container. If they don't have it in the store you can order it for pickup at the store.

Lou

Yes I use mineral oil, I have a GTI, no rave valves. If you have a ski that has rave valves you should probably use synthetic or synthetic blend. Be sure its certified API-TC.

What model ski do you have?

Lou

I have 96 spx I don't think it has the rave valves? new to this jet ski thing from Ohio working in ca and i thought it would be nice to run on the Colorado river. I also would put the oil in a yamaha wave venture that is also a 2 stroke. I hope to bring these back to Ohio and go to Higgins Lake in MI.

BRP mineral oil is good for the 587 & 657 engines, I recommend for 657X & 720's BRP XPS synthetic.
I fully stand behind the Seadoo engineering in the use of BRP oils formulated expressly for these High Performance
engines long life expectancies. They have spent many years in the developement in their oils to have the best crankseal life.

every two years = change oil injection lines to RV, change oil filter in the injection supply line.
every five years = change oil tank grommets and swab/clean out oil tank.
At every season end when storing = pincher the main oil line to RV gear cavity. (remove at start of season). This will help the crankseals from becoming distorted and hence from leaking oil into the lower case.

Bill,

Last year when BRP (or at least the local dealer) started charging $68.00 a gal. for their oil, I was told that since my ski did not have rave valves that mineral oil would be fine. I started using Quicksilver PWC oil, API-TC, just looked at the jug, its actually synthetic blend.

Do you think I should change to full synthetic?

Lou

David,

Sorry to get off the track. YamaLube which is what your Yamaha would use is TC-W3. This is outboard engine oil.

Pretty sure this is correct, a friend of mine has a WaveRunner and thats what he uses (Klotz TC-W3), he also uses it in his Mercury 2 stroke outboard.

I just bought a gallon from my local and it was 42 out the door.

Lou, your gti is recreational touring and mineral in that 3 seater 720 is OK.

A two seater that is jumping & revving, like an SPX, I advise XPS.

Amsoil & others may save a few pennies or dollar discounts, IMO is not BEST for a Seadoo engine.

Guess I was getting ripped off by the SeaDoo dealer here, the oil he had was not even BRP, he said it was the same thing. Since I still have almost a Gal. and a half, I'll just stay with the Quicksilver.

Lou

I will try to find the yamaha lube, where do you buy the BRP and what does BRP stand for so I can ask for it at the local jet ski dealer.

David

Hi David,

BRP stands for Bombardier Recreational Products, they make amoung other things, SeaDoo, SkiDoo, CanAm, Johnson/Evinrude, the parent company makes the Canada Air Regional Jet.

Just ask for injection oil for a SeaDoo 2 stroke, API-TC, SeaDoo XPS, or equivalent. Do you know what oil the previous owner used, if you do you should use the same. If you don't know you will need to drain the old oil, add fresh oil and purge the system.

For Yamaha all you need is TC-W3 which is basically outboard engine oil, sorry I don't know Yamaha all that well to advise you what to use.

I don't know whats in it I called the dealer here and it is $50.00 for a gallon of seadoo stuff synthetic? Do i need synthetic and how do you purge the system.

David

i go to my local sporting store and for 20 bucks a gallon i get mystik full synthetic 2 stroke oil for pwc's it is rated everything that seadoo requires so it works for me

Hey Brandon,

Everytime one of these threads about oil gets started everyone has a different opinion, I use QuickSilver PWC, synthentic blend, Walmart 26.00gal. I've thought about trying Mystic, where do you get it.

Lou

Well in the broke state of CA everything is more. I wonder what would happen if i used walmart? My body says the oil is burned through the motor and would be important if it ran through the engine? So do u spend 50 bucks or less at walmart?

David

Lol tour right Lou so many opinions. the back of the mystik says meets all requirements for seadoo. I get it at academy sports and outdoors.19.99 a gallon I bought 6 ha.

Brandon,

I think our job is done, we have totally confussed everyone............

Lou

We're just pulling your chain, this oil debate has been going on longer than I have been a member of this forum. You'll be O.K. with the QuickSilver, it's made by, or at least marketed by Mercury Marine so its good quality. Just be sure to get API-TC rating.

Lou

Thanks Lou, i hope my walmart carries the oil.i have learned alot from you guys on this forum and go with the opions. I got the running good and dont want to do any real damage if i dont have to.
