I just bought a 2000 GTS that has been sitting for almost 2 YEARS unused. I got it for $400 with a great trailer, so I figured I couldn't loose! She said it ran fine the last time she used it and her mom just told her she could do anything with it and therefore she sold it! I have the title and all is goood there. I have yet to do a compression test.

Questions:

How the hell do you start this thing out of the H2O? I know about connecting hose on boats, but I see no attachmentmon the ski?

What would you do first?
~Compression Test?
~Drain Gas and try to start with fresh gas?
~Tune Up, ie. Plugs, Carbs, etc?
~Lubrication of certain areas?
~If I were to pay someone to do this-what should I expect? Charleston, SC.

How is this year and model of ski? This is the first ski that I owned but have boated for years.

Any input would be great.

I'd bought it...,

yah, ground out the plug wires on the post, and do compression, if good, then install fresh plugs, gas, replace the grey fuel lines. If done all that, besides, lubing the steering mechanism and cables/throttle cables, if ski still not right, may need to tear into carbs..almost a must, if grey fuel lines still installed...

Goose Creek!.........

Your in luck!....you got a hommie in da house!......

Compression test, yeah.

First thing I'd do is put the lanyard key on the post to see if you get two beeps. If so, remove the spark plugs, lay them on the engine heads, somewhere to ground them, then put the lanyard back on and hit the start/stop switch to check for fire at the plugs.

Be careful with how close the spark is to the spark plug holes. If there is any residual fuel, it could ignite.

If you have spark, then you can put it all together and see if it starts. It can run without water for about 10 seconds, then shut it down.

The water connector should be on the back of the pump. Not all owners put the flush out plugs in. If yours is missing, look on the pump at the hull and you should see a plug that is removable and that's where you connect a water hose quick connector. You can leave it on, that way you can flush easier.

And always start the motor before turning on the water. Turn the water off before shutting down the engine.....if not, you take a chance of back flowing water into the pistons via the exhaust system............
