lol, yea that one is in rougher shape, but I have yet to see a 2001 gs ask less than $1500, but i'm easily swayed the the colors. That 2001 gs and a 2000 or 2001 red gtx would be my ideal ski pair, but can't help what the good deals are :) and I got my rebuild kit today, so hopefully i'll have my spi up and running tomorrow, and then the next project will be the complete gsx. on the parts gsx i have, one of the pistons looks f'ed so i doubt i'll do much with that one, and it's missing the carbs

A piston and a set of carbs are no reason to kill that ski. I and others like me have that stuff laying around. My dad has been up for the weekend and he loves the 96GSX. I do have sponsons on it but it's the same hull as yours otherwise. He has been faster than a couple of X4's(especially in chop) and we have a big ride planned for the morning. He seems fired up enough to pick up some potential deals for me in the G'ville to Lake City area if they spring up.

you're prob right, i'll see how these 2 go first, cause right now, i have the double trailer in the single garage, and one ski is sitting outside in the driveway, and i think it's only a matter of time before condo management lets me know AGAIN.

also wanted to ask, I picked up one of these rebuild kits, and is there a reason there are 2 of each diaphragms on the top right of the picture, it only looks like i need 1 of the top one, and one of the middle one

well, thanks guys !
6 hours round trip and I picked up the 98 spx this morning, and bought an entire trunk load of additional parts as well, very good value, would NOT have seen this ski if the ad hadn't been posted here.
I think Nammer posted it originally, so many thanks ! and toro even offered to step in and deliver it but it made more sense to drive up since the extra parts were a better value than the ski itself.
great teamwork !
Spim

We are only getting started with that buy. Spimtavious, I am Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous! I just sold two skis and want to sink my teeth into some of your score. Always paypal ready, please consider me before ebay and classifieds.......I dig it the most!

it was a pretty good score !

filled my trunk, filled the empty hull, and part of the back seat, my car was riding real low the whole way home with all the extra weight. two complete engines, disassembled of course with bad cranks, two exhausts & waterboxes, extra drivelines, a MT rev limiter, 7 props, 4 stock 3 aftermarket (need to research), a set of buckshot carbs with Proks and additional FA adapters, UMI Steering, Beach house sponsons (a little rusty), 6 pumps, and a couple sets of stock nozzles, at least 5 heads, several gasket sets, two more sets of carbs, and two complete MPEMS :) another set of sponsons, but I need to make backign plates, some duckbills, the original VTS out of the ski that is super clean, and oh, ya, a 98 Spx :)

The list goes on, this is all I can remember. I had to stop at home depot on the way home and buy 4 big tubs to stash all the stuff, should have bought 6 :)

of course everything is filthy and will take a lot of time to clean up before its usable or sellable, but i'm very very glad I made the long azz drive on my day off !

Nice score Spim.
:drool5: if I knew what half that stuff was, it would sound like xmas

Its all the good stuff Nammer.
Mostly things to go fast and faster
Give it time. Soon you will be Guru Nammer.

so, today was not successful, I am having the same problem I had before, it won't throttle in the water, and on land, if I don't give it gas, it will shut off. should i look at the voltage regulator next?

Ok guys let me jump in here and ask for advice. I have a 95 XP hull with no engine or jet pump. It was going to be my winter refurb project. I have since found a 2000 GTI that I want to refurb instead. Plus the better half prefers the prettier GTI.

I need to sell the XP, should I sell the hull for say $500 to get it "gone" quickly or part it out? I should also tell ya I have the title for the XP and am retired so I also have the time.

So what do you kings of the parting out world say?

Thanks,

Robert

^Hull only is not going to get 500.
I would start at 150 but probably let it go for 100.

Engine/pump is ~1k and running xp go for 1500 with trailer.

ocod is right, you'd be lucky to fetch over $150 for a bare hull, and that assumes that steering, gauges, cables are there, you might fetch $250 if you have the grey box, but at this point, i'd probably strip the cables, ebox, rear box, and anything else that comes off easily and then sell the hull for $50 max, or take it to the dump. if the motor and pump are gone, then its time to finish off the job.

would I refurb/rebuild? probably not, the 95 xp 717 is a 12-1500 ski max, especially in South Florida, now if you were up north it might be a different story.

if it was a 96 xp, i'd say its borderline to refurb vs part out,14-1700

if it was a 97 then its worth refurb, 17-2000.

however...
you can fetch $500 if you put a piece of crap core engine in it, and a stuck pump... its amazing what people will pay if all the parts are there, even if worthless.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I will be parting it out as it does have the E box and the wiring harness and a functional VTS with gauge. The other gauges are toast. The steering is good so I guess I will try to sell it as well. The fuel baffle and oil level sensors also work. What else can I realistically expect to be able to sell?

Thanks again,

Robert
