Fitting a primer kit????

Just got a primer kit for my 95 XP, and all seems easy enough, until I reached the part where you have to connect the fuel line to the carb.

It says I need to hammer the sprigot into the carb, but no indication where abouts to hammer it into?? Doesn't seem too neat and tidy?

Any ideas?

The other thing is it says I need to connect the line from the side of the primer plunger to be T'd into the fuel line with a 4" piece of line, but there are 4 pipes coming out of my fuel tank so very unsure which one to T into??

Any help would be massively appreciated.
I've attached a pic of my engine area if that helps...

When you remove the choke plate assembly from the carbs you use one of the holes the choke plate shaft uses.

Yup did it on my 95 XP. Remove the Choke Butterflies and shafts. Fit the adapters right in the hole. I had to use some gasket sealer to keep them in there and now it works perfect.

That is what I did too. When the butterfly/chokes are removed, you can mount the primer "buds" into the holes the butterfly shaft stuck into. I even used a dab of J/B Weld to hold them in so they wouldn't pop out and "prime" my hull some day.

Primers work much better than choke, in my opinion. My XP (with primers) starts and runs MUCH better than my Challenger with chokes.

It is easier to do it with the carbs sitting on a workbench. But if you are very limber, you could do it without removing them.

Leave them linked together and yank them out as a single unit.

When you put them back in, use this opportunity to put some kind of anti-seize compound or grease on the bolts that hold it to the engine. Otherwise they will eventually seize up and you won't be able to get them out at all.

Is this an easy job? Just a case of removing a few bolts and pipes?

I can't seem to find any detailed info on how to do it on the internet:stupid:

4 bolts hold the carbs on. Detach the cables and fuel lines, and those 4 bolts.

You will have to take off the air-filter box. Takes about 20-30 minutes your first time. 10 minutes every time after that.

my instructions were just for removing the carbs. I forgot the stuff Timmy said about the fuel feeds. The kits come with all the Ts, wire-ties for clamps, the pump, and the priming nipples.

you should be able to do this entire job in an hour.
