Went to work on my xp since my parts came in. The very last bolt I was tightening and of course my luck the bolt kept spinning and not pulling. Pulled the bolt and it had some metal around the threads. I figure the threads on that side of the intake are jacked. Any idea how to fix it? Longer carb bolt? I really don't feel like taking it all apart again!

See if the hole is deeper than the bolt you removed by 25% or so. If so, then a longer bolt will likely work. If not, you can Helicoil it and or tap it out to a larger size. The advantage to the Helicoil is that the original bolt will go back into the hole.

I'd go with helicoil for the more reliable permanent solution. You should be able to pick up a kit at just about any auto parts store. The inserts come in different depths so be sure to get them long enough to go to the bottom of the hole.

Went the Helicoil route. Picked one up at pep boys. Tapped the hole inserted helicoil 1 and i didn't go deep enough. Take 2 made sure i tapped it deep enough, put the helicoil in deep enough and the tool holding it snaps!. Was able to tighter a bolt enough and after an hr it can out the bottom! What a pain for something that was supposed to be easy and quick.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, helicoil def was the best route even if it was a little pain

Sorry to jump in on this late, but I had the same problem. I ended up just replacing the intake/ RV cover with one from ebay, ended up paying only $15 for it shipped! It was cheaper than the helicoil kit!

I lucked out… i got one in to fix it and tool broke, took it back to the store and they didn't have another so I got a refund.
