I purchased a new battery for my 2011 GTI SE. The battery is a Yuasa model yb30cl-b. The screws from the old battery don't fit the battery terminals. For some reason the old screws don't fit the new battery. They no longer fit the old one either. I was able to tighten a screw on the negative terminal but it's not Working on the positive terminal. Does anyone know what size screw the terminals require? I attached a photo for reference. I plan to stop by Lowes tomorrow to see If I can find a screw that slightly larger than the ones that I have. There should be a little packet with the new battery with the screws. The tighten into nuts which slide into the battery terminals from the side. Maybe call yuasu and get them before you damage a battery?

Do yourself a favor. If the battery is new take it back and exchange it for an AGM sealed battery.

There wasn't a packet of screws with the battery. Maybe the shop didn't put them back in the box after the put acid in the battery and charged it. I ended up finding a screw at Home Depot. I used a 7mm screw. It was a little snug but it worked. I'll go with a AGM battery next time. Thanks for the responses.

Did your battery have the Nita under the terminals or did you just screw into the lead posts? If you just screwed into the lead posts it probably won't hold.

I just screw into the posts I've tugged at the wires to make sure that they are secure but I will double check. My last battery was like that as well.

The battery you have in the picture has floating nuts, it's not gonna work screwing into the posts.

I just Terra's my post above... Nita equals nuts, I love autocorrect. Either way I second loudoo and seaside. The batteries are expensive so we are attempting to save you from damaging a post and having to buy a new one.

Thanks again. The old battery never had a floating nuts or maybe it did and I didn't realize it. It's the first time that I changed the battery but I have had the ski winterized and the old battery has been disconnected and reconnected before. I'll stop by the bike shop and get the screws that I should have. The cables are secure for now but I would like to make sure it's done right. Here is a closer shot of the post. Does anyone have a picture of their battery for reference ImageUploadedByTapatalk1431966123.930855.jpg.
