Just looked at lunch and the black part is steel, so I guess I'll go to menards tonight and see what kinda fitting I can find to tap in. uploadfromtaptalk1453490024273.jpg

You want to find the brass fittings that go from that thread to a pipe thread. Thats what the rest of us are using.

Right. That probe and the brass ferrel look the same, just the weld on part is different. The pipe thread that goes in the manifold is 1/8" NPT. You can find it in brass. You will need a drill bit that the tap recommends. Make sure not to go too far with the tap because it's a tapered thread. Pic coming soon......

Be careful with the tap. My craftsman kit has a 1/8-27 and a 1/8-28 pipe tap and when I installed my EGT probe guess which one I used first. Yup the wrong one, had no clue there were (2) 1/8 pipe taps.

BTW the 1/8-27 is the most common and the 1/8-28 is British Pipe Threads.

Thanks for all the info guys. Found this at menards for $2.89uploadfromtaptalk1453559884114.jpg

So i cut the tab off and drilled right in the center. For the tap I used a pipe tape that has a taper to it.

Brass fitting went right in

I also had to drill the inside if the fitting to get the sensor in

Turned out really good, I'll have to clean it up and repaint now.

Thanks again matt. Well my dang buffer took a shit today so I went to menards and picked this up.

I just set it up on my little stool, so I could sit down and clean the umi up. Watched a little tv while I buffed it and MSN it turned out awsome! I got the bars put on with the odi grip. Fly start stop switch. Umi finger throttle. Now I just need to mount the egt screen. I'm really starting to love the look of this.

Damn that looks good. I was gonna try the same on my nozzle and trim tabs with 3m super duty rubbing compound. Let me know what worked best for you.

I don't know if it would be the best for stuff under the water line. I like to just paint the stuff under the water once a year. It's just the compound from menards but made for the buffer I was using....
