I was lucky enough to pick up a 95 GTS on craigslist yesterday.
I dove into it this morning, and i found / learned a lot.
The unit did not come with a battery, so I hooked my jump pack up and attempted to crank it. It cranked slowly, so I thought I had a bad starter. I pulled the plugs, and sprayed some fogging oil in it because it has not ran in a year or more. With the plugs out I cranked it again, It spun easier, but still not as quick as I thought it should. I checked the impeller and found the wear ring torn up, so I thought this was keeping the engine from spinning. I pulled the water pump, and found a rock lodged in it.
I put the plugs back in, and sprayed some ether in the carb, and it fired, so I think the engine is good.
I did notice all the clear/yellow tubes on the exhaust manifold are melted. Are there special tubes for these, or will clear PVC tube work for this?
I have a ton of blue green oil laying in the hull. I am thinking a leak, but I do not know much about the oil injectors. I have read some people removed them, and some keep them. I am undecided right now.
So I am not sure where to go with this. I know I need to do the following:
Replace the wear ring
Rebuild the water pump
Fix the oil injector
Replace the plastic tubes - what to use???
get a water bypass to run it on land
Anything I should look for. I doubt this was winterized, as the trailer had the tires flat and pulled off the rims, plus the rock...
