Looks great so far, been enjoying reading through your thread!

On my FJ I can just hit the reverse sensor button to shut it off while I'm pulling a trailer/boat.

No, perhaps I should go check that forum out! Cheers

I suddenly realized what you meant with the spare tire being so close, I've been looking into trying to mount my spare on the boat trailer too. Hardly any room for it, always just thrown it on the deck during travel.

How about an extra offset spare tire mount. Beats humping a tire off the roof

I have a straight mount for my spare, only in my one driveway does it just scuff pulling out if I go to fast. It also doesn't help that the springs on the Yukon are sagged, but that should be expected with almost 200K on them. As far as reviews, take them with a grain of salt. Without know what type of trailer it is it's hard to judge how low it would be on your trailer. The one on my Speedster trail is only 8" off the ground, so as you can tell it's hard to judge, this extra angled one could net me more clearance than what I have now. I might have to upgrade and then put the straight on on my utility trailer, oh wait, then I'd need to actually get a spare for the utility trailer.

Guest_User,
That is one amazing engine compartment. Mine doesn't look anywhere near that good and I just finished scrubbing it down.
I have two questions:
1. Why did you move your coils over the top of the driveshafts?? convience?
2. Where did you end up getting the needle & seats for your carburetors? I having trouble finding them. Everyone I have spoken with, will have to back order. :banghead:

Must be another difference between the 1998 & the 1999. My coils are mounted to the outside of each engine directly to the fiberglass.

Thanks for the info. I will give them a call tomorrow.

Here's my Speedster set up. The 99 Challenger I'm working on right now is set up similar with them off to the sides. If you look in the photo where you battery is mounted, just where the lead you have hanging is where they mount the port side. It doesn't look as if you have the molded pad for it to mount to. It's too dark to get a good pic of the 99 I have at my place.

Thanks Andy, that is straight from 99, other than me pulling the engines and rebuilding them both, almost every cable tie is factory and if not one was put back in the correct location. I'm still trying to get it cleaner, although I do have it down to only about a cup of water or less when I pop the cork after a day on the water. I do like how yours is neat and tidy though, gotta love the twins.

I would assume they switched for ease of service, maybe. I also have extra supports for my weedless intake grates where you guys do not. That has to be a PITA to take that box off and move to grease the PTO.

could you please post a picture of your set up? The way it is on ours, they really take a lot of vibration from the engines, and that`s what causes cracks in the stainless covers.

Guest_User,
I am at work until 4:30pm, but as soon as I get home I will snap a couple of pictures showing the mounts.

Thought I'd share an interesting side effect of your project postings.
As I've been working through my "winter project" rebuild on my '96 Challenger, I've noticed something happening more and more. As I do pretty much anything, whether it be an upgrade, cleaning, fixing, or replacing something, I find myself spending even more time on the little details. Seeing how clean and precise your work is has challenged me to raise the bar on my own work. I don't think I was doing bad work before, but I am happier with the results of my extra effort to try to keep up with the Guest_User. :)
