So heres my story . I raced WF from 2000 to 2005. Xpl SS vets ( im old). Fellow racers were beating me to first buoy bad enough that I knew something was up. So I cheated like them. 04 I built complete interior .bottom.. top molds. Ended up with a SS twin piped 1050 at 397lbs. Thats 175 than stock. Violent does not describe this boat. It floated with sponsons 2 inches out of water. Handled poorly. Added 50 lbs and managed to hole shot SS vets to first buoy in 05. Beat those damn triple Yams. Apparently physical conditioning is an issue in those races. So here we go building from scratch a set back 4tec with goal a stock weight XPL with double hp. Stock reliable. I own a stereo shop so process is
Carbon Fiber 45 degree stitched 19 oz fabric is a dream to lay dwn. I had fiberlass shop lay dwn light layer of gelcoat glass. Then Im laying over CF. Initial hull comes in at 29 lbs. Stock bottom hull weighs 127lb. Target is 70 to 80 lbs . Lots of $30 per yd fabric
Like 15 yds. Suckpoo at layup process.
Sabrtooth I dont know If I could ever build one of these hulls cost effectively. Kudos to Bullet Marine for building at $5k range. Seems I may tie up $2k in materials really fast . Key here would be a hull that I make internal molds of 4tec " bolt in " ready to rock set up. It would take $7500 for a complete top bottom set up ready to bolt in 4tec. Stock bare hull top bottom weighs 227 lbs range. My hull runs 120lbs . Hx seat and loose seat shock at minus 18lbs. Lithium ion battery loosez 10lbs. My therory is quite spending money on unreliable HP and just some damn weight! Lol
Adam.. at $140 I got this battery on ebay. Weighs 1.5 lbs vs 11lbs stock. No problem starting big mtr. Multiple times. Realistically it has half reserve time. Good news is... fully charges in like 8 mins. Im on the bubble on this. Works perfect at lake starting running riding. Seems sensitive to parasitic drain.
