^^^^ so pic above is my kids Acura GSR fresh 500hp turbo short block . After some " beer engineering" we laughed a little. It could work.. but sticking to game plan on 215 or 250 RXP stock mtr on a " sub" 500lb machine.

god that is sick. i love that x4, and here i thought i was building the baddest one around lol.

i've been throwing around the idea for about a year now to build a 4tec simi perab xp. my idea was just to start with a stock 97 787 hull, move the motor to dead center of the hull. then make a custom gas tank for up front, and mount the intercooler, battery, and as much as possible in the rear of the hull. from what i've read and the people i've talked to when you do this you have to keep as much weight rearward as you can other wise the nose will try to "dolphin dive" on you. one guy i talked to even added ballast tanks to his rear that that could be filled and controlled from the handle bars, i think he said he was adding 40 lbs to the rear at under 30 mph speeds, other wise his nose was diving in corners and lifting his sponsons out of the water, granted it was over 2 years ago that i talk to him so it kinda hard for me to remember the exact numbers.

he said when you're pushing 260+ horsepower in that comparatively little hull you already have a huge advantage on 85% of the amateur competition. i'm very interested in watching this, especially by the looks of it you do amazing work!!!

Problem if you start with 787 xpl is pump. 140mm to my 148mm skat was a mother f$!#er to do. 4tec at 159. Xpl 951 is 155 and 4tec bolts right up. Your right on nose heavy. Those boats dive stock at idle. What ever you do on these projects splitting hull is absolutely the ticket. When Im done I will splash a mold of interior. I likely could produce an all fiberglass thinner top bottom that comes in around $2500 thats ready to bolt in 4tec. Would weigh 60 to 80lbs less vs mine at 100 to 125lb less

Back on track to XpL. So cool that my mold has all the marks for every hole to drill. This carbon is like drilling through titanium. Hard on drill bits. Think I may have 20 holes to drill. Damn partlicles of dust are needles in the skin.

What does a 'rest' button do?

Also, build me a carbon fiber XP! I just want the hull / deck. the 951 is good enough for me.

Reset! Like control alt delete. Sabr the problem is its too light with 951. Does NOT handle well with 951. Hoping extra 100lbs on 4tec will balance out. For 1200 bucks i can ship you a top deck only at 40lbs savings. You can loose another 20lbs in seat issues . Keeps weight low on boat. I built several of these and its crazy how fast the boats are corner to corner. Got a WF championship under my belt with these. Will never say who but he is still racing. Everyones cheating to some degree. (:

too light?! is there such a thing?

I think you are kidding, but for buoyant things that require wetted area of the hull for turning, so I could see how it would be an issue. Imagine how effective sponsons would be if not in the water.

The kicker would be a ballast tank system (similar to wake setups on ski boats) that could give you weight for cornering, but pump out water for holeshot and top speed.

I would imagine if something is to light it wouldn't stay hooked up especially in the chop on a bouy course. You would just bounce all over the place.
