Weather alert: Wind chill advisory, freeze watch issued for Bradenton

BRADENTON -- Wednesday night will be frigid in Bradenton and surrounding areas, and the National Weather Service is sounding the alarm.
As a cold front heads toward the region, the Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for all of the Tampa Bay region, in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday.
A wind chill advisory is issued when wind chill index values are expected to drop to 35 or lower. Areas north of Tampa Bay could see wind chills of 25 or lower, according to the Weather Service.
The Weather Service also has issued a freeze watch for Friday for the area stretching from Lakeland and Tampa in the north to Fort Myers in the south.
The freeze watch, which is issued when there is the potential of a widespread and damaging freeze within 24 to 48 hours, will be in effect from 1 to 10 a.m. Friday. The Weather Service said temperatures may remain below 32 degrees for more than two hours early Friday.
Before the coldest temperatures arrive, the Weather Service said Bradenton should see sunshine and a high of 60 on Wednesday.
Wednesday night, expect a low of 43 with northwesterly winds of 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
On Thursday, expect a high of 53, with sunny skies and continued high winds. Thursday night, the temperature is expected to dip 35.
Friday's expected high is 58.
Warmer temperatures are expected this weekend, with continued sunshine and highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
