All you x4 junkies, i know all of your favorite skis are like this
95XP800
96XP
98SPX
99SPX

I stumbled across this on my local craigslist and it is just a few minutes away from me... http://kansascity.craigslist.org/boa/3735650654.html

If this was any of the aformentioned ski's this thing would be gone in a heartbeat, i just dont understand why nobody really likes the 97s?

I mean for me it is the color scheme, i really dont like the yellow and white, I think that people just dont really like the white on these skis, because it is really exactly the same as any of the other skis, except nobody ever seems to want them. This is about the best deal on an X4 787 that I have seen around me, but i have a feeling that it will be there for a while.

Am i alone on this or what is the deal here???

it just seems like no one ever talks about them or really has them...they just dont seem to hold there value like the 98 or 99spx's, or the 95 or 96XP's, at least around here in Missouri. I think its probably because they look like the 95XP 720's, i really just dont like color scheme

Haha nooo, if i buy it im pretty sure i will be sleeping out in the rain for the forseeable future. Unless i got it retarded cheap I will be passing, I really just dont like the colors, im holding out for a 96XP

I may just humor myself and go and check it out tomorrow and throw a lowball offer

Go buy it... At that price and in that condition. It looks clean. I just got one last year and haven't put it in water yet...the seller even stated OBO so you can get it even cheaper than 1000!!!

I just dont know if I want another project...i mean you guys know that every seadoo you buy especially this age is a project, there is really no such thing as a water ready ski at least to all of us guys here on the site. Us guys here realize that you pretty much have to go through the whole thing to get it water ready aka

Grey fuel lines
Carb rebuilds
Jet pump oil change/possibly wear ring
Clean raves
New oil lines, new oil filter, drain and refill the old guys tcw3 oil with xps II

I really think i just want to save my money to jump on a clean 96 when it appears some day

If i get I get to look at it tomorrow I might be able to buy the package, sell the ski and get a free trailer out of the deal tho. Or maybe even make some money

In my opinion the '97 SPX is the best year of the X4 787 because it is the only year with the best free flowing waterbox, and I have heard the '97 and '98s have the lightest hull. It also has the updated computer and the updated changes to the rave valves that took place in '97. In '98 Seadoo went with accelerator pumps on the carbs to beat EPA regulations, and I think that is something else that can go wrong and you have to tune.
I have a '96 XP that I will trade you, and I will throw in $200 in cash. The updates that the '97 has means more to me than the color scheme, plus then I would have two exact duplicate models.

At full asking price there is a lot of money to use towards a custom seat, new decal set, and traction mats that would really change the appearance of it.

Yes it does suck that you are soo far away. One thing I do like about the '97 is that it looks older than the other X4 787s which makes one hell of a sleeper when modded out. I have a fully modded '97 SPX, and I can't wait to shock people on their new skis.

If it is running, get it north of the border and its a $2500 dollar bill all day long.

HAHAHA you remind me of ol Darrell from Storage Wars....why the heck are we always referencing these people???

Here's the thing, i got such a good deal on my last project, the 97 XP which i had my mini restore thread, I dont really want to buy a ski anymore unless someone is practically giving it away. I mean, shit, that xp, although it had a few minor issues (starter, rave valve), I only have $400 into it with maintanence up to 100% on it and it is in MINT condition. I know that may be snobby and it was a helluva deal, but now im at the point where every ski i buy from now on has to be a deal like that. I dont want to pay what the average person would pay for a ski that is in running or close to running condition....but who knows, this may be one of those deals. I guess ill just have to look at it tomorrow

I love the 97 SPX, but if I was to get another X4 is would be a 98 SPX. The black and white is hard to beat! There is a 97 on my local craigslist for $1200 and its been on there over a month! Looks clean to! I don't need to X4's though.

Thank you for being the voice of reason there skew....these people are trying to kill me! LOL

There are not many "enthusiast" around my area and most have no idea what a X4 is. Hell if it ain't 800lbs with a supercharger its not cool! I think thats why most X4's don't get bought up around here. Lets face it a X4 is a kick in the pants type ski which is suited for an "enthusiast". It rides like ass, but will fly! All about business!!! People don't realize what a 450ish lb hull with a hot 110 hp 2 stroke will do vs a 850 lb hull with a 215 hp or 260 hp 4 stroke. I always get a kick out of people who ride mine that have never rode one. You should see there face the first time they yank the throttle or it whoops the shit out of them! Would I trade my X4 for a RXP...... NOPE!!

when i was looking, there seemed to be a ton of 96xp's out there.... i just wanted the cleanest, best quality for the best price x4 hull 787 i could find. the 99spx and 96xp were my top choices.... price was more important then the year for me..... 99's always seem to go for much more money...

My fav X4 has to be the 99SPX, but I love my 97. Got it for a steal (or so I thought until the wrist pins blew out). I painted my hood black and yellow and think it looks rather good. Mine came with a NUJET prop and R&D intake: rides great, especially jumping waves at the beach. I launch that thing!! XD The graphics COULD be less purple, but honestly, I don't think anyone even thinks about that as I jump their wake or fire up that throaty 787 at the dock. Some doofus took off my accelerator pump, so I'm running like a 96XP. Can't wait to bring it out again soon!!
