What is your tow rig?

I'm so jealous! Just saying to make sure the safety chain is on, just in case! What a slick deal! The dual should be just as cool!

I hope so..We will see...I was just describing to you the safety features. Which if there not used could be interesting an I've had my almost mishaps with the trailer..The problem is it's just different and needs to handled in a different way...

Tow Rig is a 2007 Avalanche Tows like a dream, only averages 12mpg though in tow mode. Was a pain to back up trailer until guides were installed because you couldnt see the trailer .......

upgrades: 3.73 rear axle (tows up to 7200 lbs)
rear entertainment package
Pioneer dvd/navigation
back up camera
alarm/remote start
sliding moonroof

Nice Avi!!! I love mine. I really think as long as they keep making them, its the only truck ill own. MPG does suck though. I also have the pioneer system with back up camera and that fixed my problem of not seeing the trailer.

Where did they mount your camera? Mine is under the bumper next to the hitch. I hate that spot, it doesnt give you the angle of the factory mounted camera, and all i see is the tongue of the trailer........

I installed it myself, It is built into the license plate frame. It doesnt show the sides of the trailer, but enough that I can tell if its straight or not when baking up. I kinda like the way it is from the factory. Ill probably get it on the next truck that way.

I agree, the factory spot is the best.

I use my wife's 2010 Chysler T & C Minivan with a 4.0 V6. Much to my surprise this Minivan is an excellent tow car! It averaged 16MPG overall for 1,100 miles on a Powell trip, it has loads of power, handles great and it's a Limited so it's almost as comfortable as my living room. I'm pulling Two, 3 passenger, 1200cc 4 stroke skis.

Make sure you don't tow in "D". Drop it to "3". The tranny doesn't cool too well. I would also advise adding a tranny cooler. Can't beat a Dodge Caravan/Town and Country!!!! I have over a quarter millilon miles on mine!

It's a 6 speed auto, I run in 5 and drop to 4 for the pass(es). The 4.0 comes with a giant external trans cooler from the factory. But if all else fails I have the factory extended warranty.

Good call. I just don't want anyone else to experience the sinking feeling I had in my explorer when I left it in OD.... Does towing void the warranty? Just something to check. Seems mfg's do their best to get out of fixing stuff!!!

Happy towing!

The warranty is fine so long as you stay within the factory specs. The Van is rated up to 9,000 Gross, so it's good for up to 3,800lbs of boat and trailer. The Jet skis and trailer are under a ton. I'm going to pick up a Trailblazer SS though, the LS1 in that thing ought to pull the wheels off the jet ski trailer!

this isnt too different from what we are using.. but.. i can see how the longer tongue makes a great deal of difference... anyone know where i can get mine extended?? is it a 'thing' you can just buy and bolt onto your existing tongue?

Yeah, I get to show off my new 2012 Sierra Tow Rig!!! Hopefully, I can get a picture of it towing our boat this spring when the snow melts. For now, it is a sled towing fool.

Hey Tater,

That's really neat, reminds me of a Corvair Rampside truck I once owned. I doubt the rampside would tow a red wagon, kinda like a Honda Civic.

Lou

Tater: that's very cool. It's an old Kaiser truck... Right? It's the same people who made the original mail Jeeps. Too bad you aren't closer to me... I'd make you an offer on it.

Ok, so I don't really tow it with the Syclone. I use the ZR2 for that task...
