What is your tow rig?

Well... I didn't have the $$$ to do it... but I have a second kid on the way, so I figured I better do it now while there was a little cash in the bank.


Here's my newest toy. a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the TRX4 package. I wanted to get Diesel again, but I couldn't afford the extra $10k right now. (The choice was a new gas truck, or a 3 year old diesel)

I'll post up a new pic later with some skis on the back since this is the toy huller section.

OK... I couldn't get a good tow pic... so before I went to the water, I took 3 pics, and thought I would play with a panorama maker. Anyway... I downloaded Microsoft ICE, and with a couple clicks... it made the pic below. It's not perfect... but it's pretty dam good for a free program. (and easy too)

You gotta lift it cause that front end sits way to close to the ground for a pickup.

I don't tow this boat with my car very much, but I do tow my Sportster with this car. :blush:

It only has a 2.4L 4 cylinder. It actually does just fine. even on the ramp.

Towed the two skis (or anything else for that matter) for the first time last weekend. Didnt even know they were back there.

new 350 tbi crate @ 350 hp
other wise bone stock and she never has any problems pulling anything. be it my 1997 gts or the business' 1987 mini excavtor that is quite heavy lol

How you like that H2? Any problems...I love my avalanche but an H2 is the one truck I would trade it for. I have looked around for an 06, that is about the highest priced ones I could get in my price range. I have heard they have some mechanical issues, but never from an actual owner.

I haven't had any issues with mine so far. I've heard about transmission problems, not with mine so far. Haven't towed much with it, just a uhaul trialer but I am sure I'll have no issues. No gripes!

Funny, I have a '01 2500 Cummins, and even though it puts out 700 Lb,ft of torque, and has a gross at 8800 Lbs... the 1500 tows the smaller trailers (boat, jetskis) better. Now... I put my big bike trailer on the back... and the gas engine just screams for mercy. (Diesel has it's place)

Dodge/Chyrsler

Yes, they are a nice truck. I work for Chrysler, my Assembly plant does not manufacture the trucks, but being nicely up the food chain, I am allotted 2 new vehicles of my choice every year. Last 3 years my tow was the Chrysler Aspen, beautiful vehicle, unfortunately they discontinued it. Now this year (2011) we are back to making the SUV's, so I will be getting the new Dodge Durango.... and of course another Minivan for the wife and kids.
