What is your tow rig?

New to the site. Just picked up a pair of 2002 GTX's. Here's my set-up. Bought the truck to tow my boat, but now keep it on a lift in Ft. Lauderdale. Hated to have a truck with nothing to tow so I picked these up

Nice boat... but you may pop a side wall with those 22's on a bad launch ramp. They look cool, but you may want a crappy set of stock tires to tug the boat around with.

Quick question regarding towing. I just got a double trailer. The goal is to have the trailer level once it is hooked up to the hitch?

Thanks,
Tntrac

My truck does not really like pulling the boat LOL

and the jet ski hauler...even though it pulls more than the truck..but I cant see the jet ski trailer behind my truck when backing it in...unless I take the taunneu cover off.

Yes, you always want the trailer to be level when attached to the hitch as well you do not want too much tounge weight or rear weight, you want it centered so it tows best, usually a used or new trailer is never set up for your exact ski so make sure to adjust your front bow mount so that the weight is centered on the axle. This is very important for safty reasons.

I should also add that what you are looking for is level but have some tounge weight, you dont want to disconnect and the tounge stays level on its own, so you do want a certain amount of tounge weight that keeps the tounge on the ball at all times, its not hard to do correctly once you do it and get an understanding however it can be done very wrong, too much rear weight will lift up the tounge from the ball at all times, and also cause it to weave while driving, too much tounge weight can cause extra stress on the tounge and towing system/vehicle. If you check online you can come across some very good info on setting up a trailer for use.

I was thinking the same :)

Similiar to what the Doctor ordered.....2010 Dodge Laramie... Love it! It's like nothing is behind me! :driving:

Yea i love my new dodge as well. I couldnt believe the difference in power from my tahoe that was like 5.3 to the dodge hemi..

I'm on the other side of that.

Mine feels like a pig. My Cummins was puttin' down 700 Lb,ft of torque, and the new engine is only around 400. And the logic in the new trans puts it into a high gear quick, so the engine is never in an RPM range where it's making power.

The old Diesel... if you want to speed up, you just crack the throttle... the new gas Dodge... I keep squeezin' the throttle... and it gives me NOTHING. Then... all the sudden, it down shifts, and takes off.

The engineer who did the trans shift logic needs slapped.

Oh... and the whole "Fly by wire" throttle sucx too. I have a 400 Hp Hemi, and I can't spin the tires even with the traction control off. What's up with that. (stupid computers)

2007 dodge ram 3500... 5.9 cummins...... 37 inch tires..... 22.5 alcoa wheels...

The slight throttle lag you feel is your engine computer calculating the throttle position for "maximum" performance and efficiency.....which I am sure you know. All systems with the "fly-by-wire" or "throttle-by-wire" will have some sort of lag. One thing that I am sure nobody has ever told you is that you can actually adjust/learn your throw of the gas pedal on your Dodge. The current set up is standard for all HEMI's and is meant for the average person. Yourself, being in the performance building world, would expect faster throttle response from your setups. I know that when I request power from my HEMI, I have no issues. But since you are comparing yours to your Cummins power house, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Instead of slapping the Engineers, try slapping your gas pedal instead of driving Miss Daisy;) If you would like to know how to manipulate your lag time, you can PM me......

This is my old rig. Towed a single and I also had a double with air as well. Behind the plate was the hitch, air hookup and wiring for the valves. Worked well for shallow launches. Now I tow with an envoy. MPG suck but it's great for towing.
