What I did to my 4-tec boat today...

Will repeat again this is a life savor!

I can't back you up enough, on this. That is the part that failed on my '08 GTI 130. It is insane that they used such a weak part. We were 18 miles from port and had to WOT all the way back, when it gave out. Thankfully, we noticed before it was too late...

Someone help me out here. Where does this go on the boat? Is it the fitting that threads into the pump that the cables go through?

They replace the OEM plastic nut for most of the thru hull cables (ICS, steering, reverse ect)

What did we do with our boat today....... Ran it

Was coming into the canal and there was a 26' SeaRay Cabin Cruiser that lost power and was drifting toward the rocks and sea wall. They threw us a rope, and our trusty Utopia pulled her to a safe haven about 25' away. This is probably not a recommended procedure, but it worked! It was also the first time we pulled anything, or anyone, with the boat...

No issue at all in towing such a heavy boat. Just have to do it right,, Nice slow pace. I have towed HUNDREDS, never a single issue. It is about being slow, safe and patient..

Got the aluminum nuts installed and the leak I delt with since 2013......GONE

Can you post pics of where each one went? Our boat has a leak somewhere and we cannot quite figure out where. This may be a good thing to swap out to see if it fixes anything.

I rode mine a lot this week. Brought it to the coast for a business trip, then a weekend with my wife. Can't beat that, especially when work pays for the mileage and the fuel!

Snapped this his pic just off of Carolina Beach inlet at sunset.

Now, I have a huge cleanup job after a full week of use.

Went to Canyon Lake outside of Phoenix today.

Spent some time teaching my 14 year old to drive the boat.

While I was in the water I saw that I could see my reflection really well on the side of the boat. I grabbed the waterproof camera and took some photos. Most turned out bad with lens flare and water spots. Here is one that was ok:

And yes, the water really was that green. The sun was hitting it just right and the water was florescent. The yellow in the lower right was from lens flare.

As always, a great day on the water.

It would be nice for this to be a new thread with photos for easy search for others. Finding these kind of important stuff in this long/fun thread can be tedious!

I did $500 worth of gelcoat damage to our boat the other day attempting to put the boat on the trailer before the storm hit.

Missed it by 30 seconds.

It started to rain and get breezy as I approached the trailer. When I got within a few feet of the trailer the wind went from a breeze to gail force and blew the boat sideways into the metal "End of Ramp" sign. I tried to grab it , but the boat was blown right over it. I managed to swing the boat back so the damage was only on the one side.

Second attempt in full blown storm and I got her on the trailer.

Took 2 dime-sized chunks on the outer edge and then 1 chunk on the inner chine. There was also a nice double scrape under the side and belly.

Could have probably repaired it myself, but didn't want to deal with it in mid August.

I'll post some after pics later when I get her back.

Try fixing it yourself. I learned to do it in an afternoon. Amazon sells the kit that you mix (Evercoat) or try MagicEzy chip repair(premix) also found on Amazon.

Wrong year and color. I've used these kits before with great success. I didn't feel like climbing under my boat in the August Fl heat to fix this one. Spectrum offers 2 whites for my year boat, one regular white and one alpine white. Called BRP and they have no way to tell me which color white is on my boat (go figure). The boat is already fixed and I'll be picking it up later today.

Trailer guide poles will be our next purchase. Had them on our old trailer and they help tremendously when putting back on the trailer in bad or windy weather.

I just ordered the spectrum rsm white and rsm black 2005 - 2013, I'll post my results for color match. I called sea doo and got the ppg codes, found a sea doo paint code service bulletin. The feedback on iboats was good for pwc's with the same paint code as I was given, so we'll see.

Keep in mind gelcoat is very porous and fades very quickly compared to paint. There's a good chance the patch color will be brighter than the slightly faded color on your boat. You can always get some tint for it from your local West Marine if needed. The wet color of the gelcoat will be the same color when it is dry. So you'll know right away how good the match will be.

Picked up this Rtic tumbler to go with the boat.

Tell us about the custom logo? Is there a wait on the cups like the coolers?

The cup was offered with a Nautique logo on another forum I belong to for our old boat (I still frequent the site helping others). I asked if I could have a different logo added and they said sure. I simply found the logo and wording and sent it off to them. $30 shipped. They'll put anything you want on the tumbler. I believe they also offer the Rtic coozies as well if you don't like the large tumbler.

Ordered the tumbler on Friday. Had it in my hands 6 days later.

Their FB page is Old Mountain Crafts NC.

If anyone wants her email, just send me a PM and I'll give it to you.

Not today, but last weekend. Rode the crap out of it. Guys beach trip to the coast that I do once a year. We hit the ICW and Ocean pretty hard. Had a great time. The GPS says the boat covered 219 miles in 4 days. It was great to have xintersecty along on this trip. His Spark handled the ocean quite well. Had a Yamaha ski in the group for the first time, as well. Of course, the SPX gave us fits all weekend... Not bad for a bunch of guys in the late 40-early 50 year-old range.
