what 2 place trailer do you have? Pictures?

Hi Guys!

I have had a couple older two place trailers made in the 90's & they were pretty decent (still have one). Last year I bought my first "big" ski, a GTX 4tec. So, at 18-24" longer, I have been looking for something that will handle a 10' hull. I have been a little disappointed in the fact that all of them seem to be 17' long. I have been keeping my skis parked 90 degree's inside the 3rd stall of my garage & they fit perfect there. at 17' its too long to do that. I looked at a Karavan last night & there was a 3 seater on it. There is just so much room in front of the ski. I could bolt a picnic table down in front. Maybe that's just how they all are?

Any thoughts? What do you have, & do you have any pictures?

I cut 5 foot of tongue off my trailer and bolted on a new coupler using 1/2 stainless nuts and bolts with lick washers and lock nuts. Had to move my axle 3 inches to get the tongue weight around 100 pounds. They are in storage a few more days so I can't take a picture right now.

I have a late 90s Karavan aluminum double with two X4s on it and could easily fit a 4tec and X4. Sorry no pics. I know what you mean about the ridiculously long newer trailers.

You should look for a late 90s early 2000s Triton aluminum trailer. I use to have one with a big yamaha 3 seater and an XP on it. The resale on them is insane so they're not cheap but they are the best double trailer out there IMO.

I have one of the big Karavan trailers. It can comfortably fit my 4 seat, Polaris Genesis, and still have enough room for a large cargo box on the front.

I have no idea what brand mine is, never looked at the tag When I bought it I was running a 96 XP but I had plans to purchase larger ski's. Now holds a Honda R12 and YamiGP1300r, the yami will be up for sale in a week or two as I'm shopping for another 4 stroker.

Its definitely closer to 20' in length, perhaps slightly over, I've never tried to put it in a 2 car garage, and it goes angled in a 3 car. Oversized tires, I think I paid $89 each for them if i remember right, which I thought was a dam good deal.

7 Ft bunks @ 2x6, I really like having the 2x6 vs standard boards, very solid, and easy to walk on.

Most trailers have 6 Ft bunks, but 7 suits me just fine, and if I get the 4 stroke I want, it will be an 11 Ft ski so i'll need all the bunk I can get I haven't yet installed a fuel can rack, i've been too cheap to buy one and right now I just put them in the back of the SUV, but that's in the works, I've been spending as little as possible lately to save up for the ski upgrade.

Here's my 95 gtx on the 2-place, as you can see i had to move it forward quite a bit to get the balance right, even with the front-heavyness of the 97 xp.



If you want to shorten your trailer for storage, why not look into one of the folding tongue kits? i've considered it for mine, it would free up a ton of space in the garage when it's stored because i could move the whole getup closer to the door.

Here you can see the length that is left over ahead of the skis. the extra length sure makes it tow better and its a lot easier backing down the ramp than the shorter single trailer. You can also see that it was pretty crowded in the garage while i was trying to sell off the single trailer.

I currently have a 1996 Karavan galvanized double and a 1998 Shoreland'r W-Frame. The Shoreland'r can easily handle a three seater without breaking a sweat (7-foot bunks). The Karavan probably could weight capacity wise, but it only has 6-foot bunks on it today and is no where near as wide as the Shoreland'r is. Just as others have mentioned, there really aren't any double-place trailers that are under 17'-18' long. My Karavan is empty but have used that to haul my two GSXL's and my Shoreland'r has my 1995 GTS and my 1995 XP800 on it currently.

I agree with Brian J above on the Triton trailers, you cannot go wrong with them. Probably the best trailers out there. Like he said though, brace yourself for the purchase price, because a ten-year old one will run about $300 less than a brand new one. I plan on picking up a new Triton later down the road, but what I have currently does the job.

I have a single triton but, may up grade to a used double, to house both machines. They make a great trailer and they are not too long. They make good with the space/frame. You can also check out the trailer manufacture called phoenix trailers. We deal with them at work and seem to have a couple different variations.

I just got a shorelander PWC. It is 15 feet long and has 7 foot bunks. I got it because I like the shortness of the trailer for the same reason you are looking for one. I have not put my skis on it yet (96 GTX is 10ft long). But you can move the winch post forward enough to have the entire 10 foot ski on the bunks, no overhang past that. I will adjust when I put the skis on to the correct tongue weight. Pulls great empty. Cost me $575. I need to clean it up, maybe replace the warped bunks if they don't fit the contour of my skis and replace the lights, but it should do the job.

I LOVE my fatty tires, they ride very smooth on the highway, and I do some regular long distance tow's. It also give's me some peace of mind having them, and brand new, vs the old skinny ones. I'm fortunate to have a local trailer manufacturer about 10 minutes from my office, and they take good care of me. I got a discount from them back when I was flipping ski's on a regular basis and stopping by there all the time, and although i'm not flipping ski's anymore, I'm still flipping a trailer once a month or so, when I can find them around $100-$150, I put new lights/bunks, and pretty them up.

If I ever swap out trailers, i'll immediately upgrade the tires, I don't plan on going back to skinny's again, certainty not on a double, although maybe i'd be ok with skinny's on a single.

Racer, That's the style I thought I would run into, but haven't yet.

Last spring I tried to buy another 97 XP that needs some TLC. It came with a white trailer just like yours.
The trailer had ripped bearing buddies, one loose wheel, & tattered winch straps. We just could get close enough together
on a price & I didn't see much value in the trailer at the time. Didn't need another one. I was at $350 on the trailer as is & he felt it was worth $700 I was low, & he was high. I think he wanted $1400 for the ski, but it needed some work. Glad I passed on it otherwise.

I found a 2008 Karavan that is reasonable, but its just so dang long. My garage is big enough & I could just leave it in the third stall. But I love tucking them out of the way when not being used.

I have a 2010 Triton Elite with 12" radial tires. Total length is 178", width 86" between wheel wells and 102 inches total width (outside to outside).
3 seaters and 4 tec fit not problem.
I am still cleaning it up so its pulled apart and doesn't have skiis on it.

I like that trailer right there Kicker, but they are so damn expensive used. I paid like $600 for my trailer and only put new tires on it, I cleaned the hubs and bearings and bearing buddies then regreased everything. The nice thing was that I knew both owners of it. Oh and I put a pair of LED tail lights on that were from my boat trailer. I would actually prefer my old Ravens aluminum trailer back, I always look for them even though they cracked. That trailer towed sooooo nice and looked like a million bucks with the engine turned aluminum.

A bit of info on tires...

The taller skinner tires are normally rated for hi-way speeds and moderate loads.
The short fatter tires are great for heavier loads. They help out with the ride tremendously.
Shorter tires get nearly twice the miles in the same towing difference. Thus, the bearings do as well.

So,,, if you do mostly longer tows and higher speeds you will likely want the taller tires. If mostly around town and occasional longer hauls, then the short fat tires. The short tires also allow for easier loading and off loading of the ski(s) as you do not need to back down the ramp as far. Which keeps the towing vehicle higher and dryer on the ramp..

I have an enclosed triton snowmobile trailer with the small tires on it. I put a lot of miles on it each year as I usually head north to ride.
Probably 1000-1500 miles a year? no problems at all with usual preventative maintenance. BUT, it doesn't get submerged under water.... Ever...

There are two of these trailers for sale in my area. 17' Karavans. This particular one in the picture has been for sale for a long time,
But seeing he is asking over 1K for a 10 year old trailer, its not going anywhere soon.... Guessing that's a $700 ish unit depending?

I guess we haven't' really talked values too much yet......

Thanks, I was lucky enough to find it last winter and picked it up for $900, I did the bearings (as I always do with a used trailer) but it didnt need anything else. As Racer said, they are pricey, normally around hear a 5 year old dbl triton goes for $1500.
I love it, tows great, only 360lbs, with torsion axles/suspension.

Just picked up this guy last week, PO only towed it 5 times and decided he wasn't a fan of jet skiing.... Sold the skis last summer and has be stuck with the trailer, so I made the guy an offer I though he would decline and to my surprise he accepted it! Said he was tired of keepin it in storage..... 2012 B&M

I'm in the process of polishing it now. But it was not that bad when I got it last year. I think the PO kept it in his garage most of the time cause his driveway was to small to keep it there with his 2 cars. The plastic fenders are still mint, so it hasn't been exposed to alot of weather.
