the only nozzles I noticed a difference with were the r&d 85/88

and of course the 95/800's with the pump extension.

with that said, none were harder to turn, it was just harder to hold on when turning !

OMG I'm banging my head against a wall here.
Please forget about any mention of turning.

The question I have that no one seems to be able to answer is:
What other (non divider) nozzles manufactured by Sea-Doo will fit?

It's not just the fit, any nozzle off a 140mm pump will bolt up. The diameter of said nozzles is determined by the hp of the engine amount of drag the hull makes ect. The point is you are looking for something that isn't there

When looking for 140mm nozzles, you must find a nozzle that has vts, as they're different from the fixed nozzles. Also, you can try cutting out the divider with a hack saw or something. Can't be that hard. They're dirt cheap on ebay of you want to revert

I'm referring to the whole assembly not the steering

Too funny, I saw this post. I just got in from dropping my spare nozzle of to have the center machined out. I have VTS, but I'm switching to a cable drop trim.

Does the cable drop allow you to drop the nose after a good jump? I tend to land with my stern directly down if i hit a really steep wave

The drop is to dump the nose to stick a hard turn and power out.
If you used it on the face of a jump it could nose you over I guess. It wouldn't do anything on landing as the pump wouldn't be loaded.

Damn, as if those skis with sponsons don't turn hard enough lol i finally rode some this year at the seadoo gathering and holy crap! Those things are on rails! If you aren't careful, they'll dump you :)

I've never noticed a difference in nozzles with or without the center bar. Like 1of500 mentioned, it's all about the size of the nozzles. A stock ski should have no resistance felt through the handlebars when turning. The stock setup is actually too loose for me after riding with a UMI for years

He means that it takes a lot of force to move the bars right or left when under power. The nozzle wants to center itself. You can't hold a hydraulic trim (VTS) back very long into the rpm range for the same reason.

You can turn first and then blip the throttle to help ease it. I recently sold some parts to a local guy who's wife has a 97XP. He said that is her only issue with it. I recommended aftermarket sponsons.

With sponsons a slight turn of the bars and a weight shift will make you turn that's what I tried to tell him earlier

Yes that's exactly what I'm describing. When at full speed on my 96 B2 1200 I can still veer left or right 3° without a struggle. My 97 SPX at full speed feels like I'm trying to arm wrestle The Rock. Maybe I'm just a big pussy and I need to hit the gym. I'm about to install UMI steering.

PS I think I've figured out a way to install suspension steering on my X4. I have it on my other ski and it makes a big difference on landing.

Notice the locking brake lever for trim and the use of Mtn bike parts to set steering farther back. Yeah I'm crazy, but it works really well.

If I install the same set up on the X4 it will put my weight back for better landings.

That won't work on an x4 without heavy modifications still may not even work

I'm not expecting to just bolt it on LOL. I need to have a plate cut and welded. I will need to remove the cylinder that the bearings pressed into from the UMI system. I will also need a cable support on the underside. I'm thinking if I purchase one of these old damaged UMI systems I keep finding. I can use the steering cable support from it. I'll also need to fabricate a bracket to support the base to keep it secure.

I'm not afraid of "heavy modifications".

I just installed a single gauge hood on my 97 SPX. I used the multi function gauge from a 96 XP. I got everything wired up. 2 questions. What does this plug go to? (I assume temp) My battery light is on, does this indicate low stator voltage?

Much easier way to add suspension steering. I'm keeping the UMI and adding these. Just need to machine the bar clamps to be 1 1/8"

Just buy 7/8 to fatty bar adapters, much easier and molestation free installation. Tons of options out there in the dirt bike world.

Good call. I just finished the UMI install. Technically it's a reproduction. I'll be adding the 2" risers and suspension handlebars soon. This will help set my center of gravity back.
