Just got a 2005 Seadoo GTI RFI and the guy we got it from said the speedometer was an option, but he did not get it. Now the pictures of them online are two simple plugs, but looking through the ski it doesn't look like it plugs in anywhere, If I buy one how do I install it?

The option kit includes the install manual, some wiring, the gauge, and the paddle wheel that mounts to the rear of the hull. So... you need more than just the gauge.

Same as the answer I gave above. The kit includes all the parts. If you want to just buy parts from eBay... you will need the sender, and the gauge... and then you will need to make up the wiring.

Just a thought. Why don't you just buy a cheap GPS. You can pick a 3-1/2" one up for 30.00 to 40.00. I used one last summer, they are pretty much water resistant, but if you are worried you can buy a waterproof case on Ebay for about 20.00.

I'll bet it's a lot cheaper than buying the speedo kit from BRP plus its more accurate and you can measure distance tell direction, and won't have to worry about getting lost, and you won't need to update it since you won't need to worry about new roads.

I just used the suction cup and stuck in near the dash, I also made a teather out of a piece of string in case it cames loose you won't lose it.

Here's one for 40.00 which even has an MP3 player. http://www.bensoutlet.com/products/nextar-x3-gps

Yeah thats a great idea Loustrau I mean really no need for a speedometer, the Ski goes 55 tops and there are no true speed limits so what's the real need. We found a shop that has the kit and would install, but for $118 an hour for labor just not worth it at all. The GPS idea is awesome and I will do that, thanks!

The only problem I found the GPS shows driving your car in the middle of the lake, if the GPS was so smart it would show a boat instead of a car. LOL

Lou,
Do you power the GPS off the battery of the ski or just the internal battery? Any issues seeing the display in the sunlight?

I power it off the battery, however the internal battery will last about 3hrs.

The display looks pretty good in the sunlight, the display is pretty bright, I guess because the are made to sit on the dash of your car.
