Ok so I am guessing I have come to the right place - I have been researching this site and it seems excellent. So here goes...

There is a 2005 SeaDoo wake that a neighbor is looking to sell but it has aprox 350 hours. Cosmetically there is light oxidation and a few gel coat issues that can probably be resolved with some TLC. Runs great and seems mechanically sound. ( hits 47 MPH) It has always been serviced at the local dealer and used primarily in fresh water. New wear ring installed ad juet serviced this week. They are asking $6500 for ski, single trailer and drive on "jet dock" floating dock. The ski has been primary used to pull people on wake board to hit jumps and such. From my reading it seems I need to do a compression test.

See attached for NADA - low retail for the Seadoo only is $6400

1. Would you consider purchasing a seadoo with this many hours.
2. How many hours can I expect from this ski?
3. What is a fair price?

Thank you for helping me out!

A couple of questions. Is it supercharged? How bad are the gel coat issues? Was it left in the sun or covered?

350 hours is a lot of hours....I think the price is a little steep. If it is supercharged I would say the engine is on it's last legs....esp since the ski was used for lots of wake jumping and wakeboarding. I have a seadoo and its either all or nothing....no cruising around...its WOT all the time....this is the case for many seadoos. I don't know how many hours of this an engine can take, mine only has 80 on it.

It really depends on the condition of the trailer and dock as well.

350 hrs could be alot, and it may be fine. There is not enough info in your post to tell us what we need to know.

If it was maintained well, then you are probably ok. If it was abused, I'm surprised it is still running.

So, do your homework. Compression test would be mandatory if I were considering it. And, (I don't know the answer to this) what motors does it have?

If the motors are 4-stroke, then the procedure is more like this:

Take a sample of the motor oil, and put it on a glass slide, and look for metal particals. If you see them, pass on this one.

Can you afford to buy a motor(s) for it?

The value of the seadoo alone is $6400.00 the trailer is included in the Nada price...what's the drive on dock worth? It doesn't seem to steep all factors concidered...is it equipped with a cover or any other goodies? I would have a seadoo service center, check it out to be sure it is ok and the hrs are accurate than go from there.
If I was in the market...it would be in my yard already.
