gtx 4tec

New Member
Hi all....im new to this forum and need some help.....

for the 2nd year running my gtx 4tec is running like poo after the winter period...yes i was naughty and didnt winterise her i run her up every few weeks instead..... but last time I sent her for a service but dont really want to spend that sort of money again as i only put about 5 hrs on her last year.

I have taken the plugs out and cleaned them, checked the electrics...even put a hair dryer on low to dry the mositure out but it idles between 1650 and 1900.... at open throttle she sounds like she is missing a beat....any help?? is this common??

I have just noticed a fuel pressure thing....does the system loose pressure over a period of time, and how do u take the carbs off and where are they??

Winterize...?

I didn't notice your location but if you ran your ski once every week during the winter season, then I doubt that has anything to do with your problem.

As for a problem in your carbs........you don't have any, your fuel injected. As for the moisture in your electrical system, the critical components are sealed so, there isn't much you have to worry about there.

You don't mention that you changed the plugs. Take one of them out and go to your local auto store and buy 3 of them, make sure you buy a gap gage and gap them to .7mm or .8mm. Your plug type is NGK DCPR8E but you might have a hard time finding them in the U.K..........if so, the parts guy can cross them to a Champion or any other plug you might have available. Do not use any of the expensive Bosch Platinum heavy hitters because they will be too hot for your engine.......

ahhhh...thats why i cant frind them then.... I bought a load of plugs from the states last year so will try that....I did however take the wires out of the plug things when the engine was running and a clear difference was noticed???
