Project Speedster : Late Season

For my next question given what I was told and what I've seen tearing into this boat the person I bought it from said the cylinders were already machined and good to go. I want to confirm this, we've got a place that's a couple hours away, but if someone can give me a little direction how I can verify this it would save me a bunch of time. I have 4 new pistons and rings he included and can pick up a digital caliper from hf if that'll work.

Thankfully the boat has a nice flat spot on the bottom and replacing the bunks was a lot easier then I was imagining.

Finally level

I just got my 1999 Speedster on the water after buying it minus an entire engine earlier this summer. Mine is the yellow version, but is almost identical looking to yours otherwise. I took the family out for the first trip Saturday, and discovered some additional carb. adjustments need to be made. It runs and goes, but isn't running perfect yet....
Feel free to PM me with any questions you run into during your project. I have been through almost everything on the boat, but am no Seadoo expert. In my college days I worked as an auto mechanic, so that experience has helped, but this forum has done most of the thinking for me. These engines are a totally different breed, but I am loving the project and experience so far. Good Luck!!

Slank, given that you've been through the motor installation can you pin point what the nylon sleeves are for in post #5?

How clean does the turf removal actually get given that the areas are all textured under. I used a mixture of methylated spirits and brake cleaner to get this far.

I've had both engines out of my Speedster and don't recall seeing those spacers

I've been browsing the manual a little bit and can't find them either, but not only were they in the bottom of the hull they were also in this hardware box that I got.

Use some Lacquer thinner on it...not a lot at once. It will remove paint too if using too much. It will dull it but it won't matter if covered with new mats.

Have to tried goo gone?

I ended up getting most of it off with several applications of acetone and and a plastic puddy knife followed by the power washer.
