As you can see in the pictures the boat is a bit rough, but i'm still optimistic. The previous owner started tearing apart the motors and never got around to the project after. I've got everything in that engine compartment from cut wires, to cut fuel and oil hoses, striped and broken bolts, and even cut exhaust brackets. The interior had a car stereo mounted inside which brings the rust on the hull. The trailer bunks as you see also broke on the ride home. Non treated wood was used, they crush to dust as you touch them.

I have a 97 Challenger project that was in a little better shape but as you will find I hate it when someone else tears something apart. You may have everything except a few bolts and with these boats everything almost is metric stainless which is hard to get locally. If you have a Manual and a fastenal close you will be OK on hardware. Good luck with the project and keep us posted. If you need help /advise this is the place. They have all helped me alot.

Removed both engines and all parts that were included today and took inventory.

I found a few of these in the bottom of the hull, can anyone tell me what they're for.

I also want to take the time and thank everyone ahead of time for there help as I'm sure I will have a lot more questions to come.

So I was given a box of bolts, nuts, washers, ect. I'm trying to make sure I have everything. From this picture, which i'm sure will be hard can anyone tell me what each bolt looks to go to. I know they are all top end, carb, accessories, as the bottom ends are still together.

RAVES: No... there isn't an issue with the different tops.

Bolts: Too hard to tell from here, but You need to be working from a manual to ID them. BUT... the center, bottom look like carb bolts, and the ones to the right of those look like the air box bolts. The row all the water to the right... those look like exhaust bolts.

Thanks for the help. I paid $1800 for the boat, I'll have to see what I have into it in the end I guess. Is there a way to measure bolts to be able to match them to the manual?

Get you a dial caliper if you don't have one Harbor Freight has a decent one for around 10-20 bucks. Measure the thread diameter and the length. They will all be Metric. You can pull the parts diagrams online as you need them and match some of them up. Not all will be listed by size. If you have specific problems post a pic and ask. Use the Labels pic above as a reference.

Looks like a nice boat. 1800 Seams high to me but at least you will know what you have in the end.

Nice project! Wish you were closer I'd love to help with that one for sure. I love a good basket case.

Do you have the seat foams? I wouldn't worry what you have into it in the end per say, you will at least know WHAT you have in the end. I love this approach to a project, trash into treasure! Good luck and if you need any pics just let me know.

That is the approach I'm taking to this project is that I'll know what I've got and I'll get to know my boat in the process.
My main worry is that I didn't take it apart, but I'm sure it'll get there. I do have the seat foams, they are all in rough shape and will need recovering. I don't know if anyone has seen any of my previous posts, but when I brought this boat back I learned first hand it needs to be covered while towing. I lost two seats on the interstate and both were gone when I went back. Luckily knowing how hard they are to find I got two replacements already. Unless I find to rear arm rest somewhere in this thread I will give my attempt at remaking those also.

Any suggestions on removing old turf? I tried the heat gun and paint scraper approach, but there's got to be something better. Especially for the painted hatch parts, I can't be scraping those. Here is about 45 min of scraping. I'm dreading the interior if this is the best method.

Never tried to remove turf with the 3M backing. You may want to contact HydroTurf to see if they have a idea for a good release agent.

I think heat will discolor the hull. (I stopped using heat on stickers a long time ago)

I would use a very sharp razor, and something like "Goo-Gone" to help lift the glue. But here again... It will destroy the paint. (it's fine on the gel)

Goo gone would work very well on that. Just make sure you use a cloth to wipe it on because paper towels will fall apart and leave more of a mess

You can't use a razor blade on the swim platform, it's textured for traction. Same with the inside of the boat, you'll ruin the gel coat. Contact Hydro

Will the mat absorb? It'll be a real time saver. I emailed hydro-turf no response back yet.

It will, when stripping the sound deadening foam from under the engine hatch I used a lot of it but it just fell off
