Planning of the 2016 Two-Stroke Ride Weekend

We need to start by at least deciding on a state. Tennessee and North Carolina seem the most central.

I think Lake Norman would be a great host lake and if there aren't adequate lodging options there then there wont be anywhere. There is also a huge contingent of X4 guys on Lake Norman.

I think we need to create a poll. List the locations that have been stated and we will let the members decide. Lake Norman sounds legit and seems to have adequate lodging

No no...you dont ride in a pack. You pick key stopping points and small groups do their thing.

Agreed! Having organized and been part of group rides with sport bikes you can't have a huge group AND be safe. You have to break it down into smaller more manageable groups......cause inevitably someone is going to act like an asshat. You have one asshat in every group of 5-8 people it's easier to manage then 10 asshats in a group of 100 together. Recipe for disaster.

I'm loving all the input. I agree with the poll. Minne your coming so if it's Tenn then fine. Mpower thanks for the info.

I hate leaning on others for financial help, but it makes it alot easier to justify. Plus it will be summer and my daughter can come with.

From the little bit of information I have gathered, I've heard great things about Lake Norman and was told it is the place to be if you're looking for a lake in NC.

Do we have any members in TN or KY?

I'm in Chattanooga...well on the Georgia side of the State line.
Two large lakes and the Tennessee River 15 minutes from the house. Literally hundreds of miles of Riding. Large twin screw cruisers throwing huge wakes.

What about Keowee Lake in SC. Doesn't xintersecty have a place on Keowee?

I've heard Keowee is a nice lake but it's prolly too far south. I can go scope out that resort on Norman in the next few days if you guys are interested. I've actually never even heard of it before

I did some research on the Landing inn place and it looks pretty affordable but its also in one of the less populated areas of the lake. I've actually only been up that way a couple of times in my whole 15 years of riding Norman. We normally ride the charlotte side of the lake (huntersville / Cornelius area) wheres its always very busy. Riding should still be awesome but I dont know much about the restaurants or bars on that side. If we stayed on the more expensive side, we could Uber to countless bars and even hit the GoPro track if anyone shows up early or stays late. Just my thoughts on it. I'm definitely down to stay there if you guys are. Then again, TN/VA sounds awesome as well!

That is awesome!

If we end up doing Norman I will very likely make it a 4 day trip (Thursday-Sunday) because of all there is to do and see. Including hitting up this GoPro track one day!

WhiskeyD, if we don't do Norman, would you be up for hosting a seperate smaller ride next summer?

I'm down!!! I've got enough room for 3-4 people to stay at my house or we can throw in on a rental. All sounds good to me

I would say just pick a few locations w/dates and do a vote to see how many can make it to each place and than narrow it down from there.

My vote is lake norman. I have friends down there who can show us all the good spots (including secluded drag race spots and don't forget the power plant). Some of you may recognize the names: tweeker, mongoose, supermac (macsboost), nuclear, etc..

the other lakes are good, but i'm partial to norman.

Spim, you can stop in Augusta and crash here a night if needed. Not sure of your route

I run right up 75, I can handle the 13 hours in a day, as long as I leave early, It took me about 10.5 to Lagrange...

Its just that its a FULL day of driving each way, wears you out. Then add a hangover on top of that and your hurting.

There seems to be a lot of support for Lake Norman. It should be far enough up there for some northern folks to be able to make it. I'm gonna Google it up some more.

Exactly, some big names in the sport are based out of Norman.
