Nut on back of exhaust pipe!!! (2000 XP)

Is there a special tool/wrench to tighten the nut on the back of the exhaust pipe, the 15mm one thats a B**** to tighten? I got my exhaust all bolted back on after changing fuel lines and now I am leaking water right below where the nut is cause I cannot tighten it down all the way, its just snug right now.

Gotta but some half moon shaped wrenches at harbor freight...or what I did was grind an old one nice and thin and put a bend in it.

your best bet is to drop the carbs, then tighten the nut.

^I would remove the carbs but the air box wont come out with the echaust pipe there so I have to do it with carbs/air box on, I am about to go to harbor freight to get some wrenches that I am going to cut/shape to make this work.

rule of thumb, you never wanna remove the pipe or split the pipe in that nature, unless you have to, bud.

That airbox and carb assy WILL come out, with pipe in place. Locate the "clamp" that on top of pto/back carb. Lift it up, and airbox will fall off carbs, then snorkel it bak toward rear of ski. If anything, remove the battery and maybe a hose line or 2, but it will come out with pipe in place.

^I have the 951 so battery in back, motor in front, I assure you I could not get the airbox out with pipe still there

...trust me, i've rebuilt those carbs, numerous times for customers. Been awhile for an XP, but think you need to undo strap, on oil tank and get it outta way.

Just picked up some angle wrenches, but not the closed end half moon ones, I had one that would not fit around the nut (closed end) due to it being too close to the pipe.

SBT sells a wrench that is bent with a 3/8 drive hole tp properly tighten that nut. It was $16 but I have found nothing is worth the frustration of not having the right tool and missing the skin for my knuckles!

Just grind them a bit thinner. The half moon ones work great!

That wrench is prob good for two uses...where as with the harbor freight ones you may get 4 or more!

Thank you for that information. I just bought the XP and it was not getting any fuel to the water seperator, I am changing all of the fuel lines as the "grey glue is everywhere
