Hello All,
I am new to the forum and also new to the world of PWC's. I recently picked up a 94 XP that has been sitting for some time. The person that I got it from said that the ski would run fine out of the water but once you would put it in the water it would bog down. I ran a compression test which came out fine. One cylinder was 150 and the other was 148. It has spark and will start with a shot of either. I have yet to add any fuel to it. I am going to rebuild the carbs and replace all of the fuel lines first. The waverunner has an APE pipe and a Coffman exhaust on it and also an aftermarket intake and air filter. I was wondering if this is a good combination or if it is just trouble. I am considering looking for a stock pipe, ehaust, and airbox. I would like to have a reliable waverunner. Let me know your thoughts. I am not very farmiliar with PWC's so any tuning tips would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone could offer some advice on maintenance things that should be done before I do drop it in the water would also be greatly appreciated. Can anyone tell me what the white nipple on the cylinder head is for?2013-01-27_21-01-27_793.jpg2013-01-27_21-02-06_643.jpg2013-01-27_21-02-14_77.jpg2013-01-27_21-02-24_267.jpg

I can't offer any tuning tips right now, since that pipe wasn't very popular, and I don't know what the jetting would have been.

If it was my ski... I would simply turn the high needles out about a 1/2 turn more than spec (during the rebuild) and go for the first ride.

Since the compression is good... I would assume that you have a fuel issue. So... you are on the right path right now with replacing the hoses, and cleaning the carbs. BUT... also take the fuel select valve apart, and check it. (They decay, and leak)
