Motor won’t run all of a sudden

I have a 2001 challenger with twin 717s all of a sudden one of the motors won’t run. I bought it used 2 months ago. It has run great without any problems. I use super gas and run synthetic oil. The motor turns over but won’t run. It shuts off after about 2 seconds.
I removed the spark plugs, cleaned them up, they are new, dipped them in fresh gas and put them back in. The motor started right up and died after about 4 seconds.

any suggestions on where I should start to look for a cause ? I don’t know much about boats let alone seadoo boats.

You need air, fuel and spark for the motor to run. Check for spark by removing the plug from each cylinder but connected to the wire. If you hold the end of the plug close to something metal while turning it over, you should see the spark jumping from the plug to the metal (a mm or two away from object). Check each one to confirm you see the spark. Don't worry, it won't start while you're turning over without the plugs in, but you should cover the hole with a rag to avoid spraying fuel and oil out of the top of the cylinder.

If that checks out okay, I'd check fuel next. Starting with the fuel filter- empty and clean the filter to ensure you have good flow. Each motor should have its own if I'm not mistaken, so one could be clogged and starving for fuel.

Last would be air. Remove and clean the flame arrestor to ensure its not gummed up with oily residue.

Once all 3 are confirmed in working order, give it a shot to see if it runs. If not, the next thing to check might be the voltage regulator. There are ways to test that, but not necessary if something easier is the problem.

My experience leads me to keep it simple. I've spent hours troubleshooting something complex in search of an answer, just to find later that it was something so basic, I overlooked it. For example, is the fuel knob turned to ON?

again for you advice. I think the motor was flooded. I was all set up to try everything I could, it sat overnight, I tried it again and it fired up.
Then the kids ran over the tube rope and then I spent two days getting that out. Fun times.
