Wife is Asian, Asian women and cars don't mix, let alone through a trailer on it. I taught her how to hook/unhook and walk the boat on/off the trailer and tie it to the dock.
you shouldn't cast stereotypes, especially regarding your wife. I bet she got some great pictures of the boat though.
Yes, she's a wiz with the camera. ROR
Never had this problem we live on a farm and wife grew up on a farm. She has been backing duellys with 24 foot horse trailers since she was 12. The only thing I worry about is the brakes failing when she comes flying down the ramp.
Do you rent her out???
Do you rent her out???
I asked her how she learned and she said her dad had a lawn mower that had a little cart on the back he would make her drive it backwords around the house. After that the horse trailer was easy I guess because it had tandom wheels. Might be a good way to teach someone.
forget backin' it up. It still takes awhile to get the boat on the trailer and properly winch it on. hehe. But she's tryin'!
Today she had to take TWENTY'ish photos of the Garmin to get a single good one showing the speed lol.
She is albeit, a heckuvva lot more than just my girl-friend...so for all the blessings God has given me by making her my wife, I'm more than happy to be extra patient with her .
yea, yea, nice and mushy, get back to us in 20 years
So we are pulling out of one of our on-water dining spots with a half mile to the landing. I realize I need to put away the bumpers and the wife is holding the ski-tube. So I ask the 10 year old to drive. She has actually had a fair amount of time behind the wheel with me behind her and the kill cord in hand.
She jumps at the chance and idles us out of the marina. I get the bumpers put away and have a seat in the bow. She asks if it's ok to take it up on plane and up to speed. I said, go for it. She does just that and runs us right up to the landing.
Rather than have her swap spots with my wife, as she usually drops me at the dock to get the truck, I asked the 10 year old to close the throttle and keep the bow pointed at the end of the dock. The landing is clear and the dock is covered in great bumper material. It's the perfect place to learn.
As much as my wife wanted to give her tips, I sort of overrode her and ask Macy (10 year old) to focus on keeping it straight and keep the throttle closed. Just play the gear shift from Neutral into forward and reverse as needed. She ran it like a pro for a perfect touch-and-go leaving me at the dock. Puts it into reverse for a perfect 360 and into forward out of the way of the landing.
I'm so proud of her, that I may let her back it off the trailer next. She has way more patience than her mom and doesn't get flustered by boat traffic. She will be a great boater for many years.
Jake, you certainly have a way with words, a true statesman.
