i want to get a 1999 spx with 70 hours, but i just wanted to know how hard is it to ride passengers on it? i have never ridden a jet ski before, only atvs, dirtbikes and snowmobiles.

I'm sure someone else on here will chime in with more experience but I just purchased a 95 XP with the x4 and its very unstable with two people. Mostly when your idle or very low speed. Once you start cruising its not bad.

my 96 xp is awesome with 2 people, me 220 pounds and my girl 120 pounds... we tear it up!...

we just dont stop...

if you plan to ride with 2 people more than 2-3x a season... get a 3 seater.

May I suggest a 787 or 951 GTX, or even a 4-tec one.

Larger, more stable, and MUCH more comfortable for 2 people. Also you can water ski / tube / wake board / etc behind a 3 seater.

I tend to agree with the rodent, I have a 95XP800, and I feel it's the best ski that SeaDoo ever made, however it's a one person ski with a seat for 2 people. With two people it's very unstable.

alright, well i wont be driving 2 people around very much so i might just get it, i only would drive 2 people around once or twice a season, i just wanted to know how stable it was, and by the way, how hard is it to flip these back over if i was to lose it and flip it?

not easy... im 220, and strong... my xp flipped over and took on water, its the water thats the hard part.... depends on how good a swimmer you are too current waves etc...

its not that tough, just grab the intake grate and push down on the rub rail and she should go over. once they roll over and take on a bit of water they can be tough to get two people back on. if you're reasonably fit (can you do a pull up?) you should be able to pull yourself up onto the ski without too much trouble, just remember to keep your weight centered.

this is going to be my first ski so let me get this right, when you flip over, you look at the sticker on the back and flip it in that direction by jumping up on the hull and pulling it over, then you climb onto the back, then can you just start it right back up?

We have noticed that as well with those certain models. You can sit at the river and watch the people have alot more trouble getting on and off those models but they sure look to be more fun than the larger skis so who knows....

u just jump on the hull and roll it right on top of u. as long as ur in deep water. get on and drive it like u stoled it.....

I agree with Lou, it's a one person ski that designed to give you a thrill a minute, the only time we ride two-up is with one of the smaller grandkids. As far as flipping it, abandon ship before it happens.

yes, you beat me to the punch, if your about to fall off or tip over. let go of the handlebars, you will fall off, the ski will remain upright. IMO 80 of the times that a ski is flipped over is because the driver panicked and got a death grip on the handlebars and dragged the ski upside down as he/she fell off.

to the OP, yes, i sold my 3 seater because all my x4 buddies were having more fun than me...
but please, learn how to ride this ski alone, before you complicate things with a passenger.

I dont even try to climb on my ancient SP in deep water. I just swim up and restart it, and let it pull me up out of the water like a skier...

Imagine an elephant humping a football. That what it looks like when an adult tries climbing up the back of these things. I'd imagine the X4's are similar, since they're not a whole lot bigger.

nah, if your physically fit, popping up on the back of an x4 is pretty dam easy IMO, when the water's cold it takes me all of about 4 seconds to get back on, grab bar, put feet on back, hop up, insert lanayard, ride,, if its warm, i'll take my time and relax.

That sounds better. These old SP's are pretty tippy.

You should have seen my brother in law trying to get back on mine last summer. I tried explaining the easy way to get back on, he didn't listen, so... 45 minutes of him wrestling with it, me taking a canoe ride out to check on him, and a waterlogged ski later..... Needless to say, it was an adventure.

not seadoo, but all the better :)

Like I said... Poor football.. He got it figured out at the end though..

Was he starting it and letting it idle him around??? So the jet was trying to push him off the whole time!!

its a waveblaster, you basically can't sit still on it, or over it goes. basically a stand up hull with a seat on it. everyone (including me) thinks they can hop on and ride around on one of those, until they try to. you basically have to get up to your knees on the back, put on the lanyard, start riding then get up on the seat. otherwise people take funny videos of you falling off over and over.
