GTX Millenium Edition Difficult to start

2001 GTX millenium that will start but is sometimes very reluctant, Once starts she idles very smoothly and runs without problem

She will turn over, cough splutter and stop, keep retrying and eventually fires. Srangely enough if you lift the rear out of the water (not right out just 3 or 4 inch or so) she will start much easier.

Any thoughts ?

Change the spark plugs. I have a Polaris 800 4-wheeler. It totally fouled the plugs, so bad it would not start. It is EFI and it is 4-stroke.

It is relatively easy and cheap to change the plugs, compared to other things!
