Getting volts on black yellow kill wire?!

OK.... it's amazing what you learn when you read the manual. (LOL)

Here's the deal. I knew the ECU on the 210 didn't do much... but now I know exactly what it does...

1) Adds 5 deg of timing when the engine is cold. (Below 3000 RPM)
2) Is the brain for warnings. (low oil, over temp, etc)
3) pre-start checks, and adds fuel if cold. (controls the enrichening valve)

4) IT IS THE REV LIMITER !

OK... because if #4... we don't want to disconnect the "Kill" wire to the switch boxes. It's VERY bad to over rev that engine. But, knowing that the Kill is a ground function... and knowing that there is power on that wire... AND, since I'm an electronics kind of guy..... I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that the transistor (Probably a Darlington) has decayed, and power from the base, is leaking into the collector/emitter side.

Also, in the book, it says... "There is no tests for the ECU. If it is suspect, the engine will run without it"

SO... pop the plug on that little bastard, and see how it runs. If your problems clear up... that's the issue. But like I said in my other post... since this is the first ECU that I've seen to be questionable, I wouldn't worry about buying a used one, to save $$$$$. (if it turns out the be bad)

Well, well, well... might be onto something here! I like the rev limiter function but I am losing my revs at 3k but I am still going with it! When spring arrives, I am going to start with the resistor and if it solves the issue buy a used good ECU. If it isn't that then the drain plugs are coming out and it will make a lovely reef for a family of bass!

Now now now... Don't do that until I get a chance it scavenge all of those nice new parts you have!!! :-)

don't bother with the resistor. Just disconnect it, and go for a ride. Yes... we want the rev limiter, but just like the dreaded Guardian... if it's going bad, it cam mess with the stability of the ignition. AND/OR... kill the spark at random times. (Very well could have been an issue when you couldn't rev-up)

If you get "Normal" performance without it... then that's the issue.

The wire is already disconnected and I am thinking along the same lines as you but from the "disconnected so let's reconnect" angle. I am thinking the wire being disconnected is causing the limited revs. And Henry is circling my boat like a Seagull at a picnic!!
