Gas Usage Per hour

I just purchased 2 2009 GTI 130's. After the first day, one ski went through 13 gallons and one through 9. I know throttle is a condition. But I suspect that both boys went full on all day. If one ran worse, would it use more gas?

They have 300 and 250 hours on the clock. I am planning on taking them for major service after the season. I got them for a great price with a trailer and they run without flaws.

little smoke on startup, should I try SeaFoam? The last owner said they sat around a year. I only used non-ethanal fuel. He said he did too.

Thanks and I look forward to this sport evolving with us.

Any chance to add the speedometer kit to this non SE model?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I myself will never use seafoam in a 2 stroke motor....4 stroke no problem...it's a detergent and will break down the oil that you need to lubricate the pistons. Some guys will say they run it in their 2 smoker motor 2-5 times a season with no problem but I won't.

For the gas problem, are the injectors clean and working properly? other than that I don't know much about 4 strokes. Hopefully some one else will chime in on this issue for you.

Please check the compression in each first and compare.

One thing you could do is check RPM`s on both at lets say 25 mph, thats a big difference if they ran side by side all day .

I run with my brother in law, me with a GTI 155 Limited and him with a GTR 215 and we will cruise all day at 30 mph and burn the same amount of gas as long as he keeps his RPM at the point that his SC is not used.

Another thing are you 100% sure they had the same amount of gas when they left ?

Thanks & Update

Thanks for info - I suspect they might have had different throttle, but they both said they were "wide open."

I am planning on changing plugs, oil, filter and adding SeaFoam to the gas for the next run.

Both skis were topped off with gas on Tuesday, Then re-filled yesterday, which lead to the original post. I'm sure I will have more questions as these are our 1st sets of skis.
