Gas in oil tank

Before I bought this 97 GTX I asked the guy to help me get it running. He said the oil injector isn't good on this model and to pre mix the gas at 40:1.
He then proceeded to fill both the gas and oil tank with this mixture using the logic that the oil will be injected into the gas anyways.
It ran fine for 2 days. Now it wont start, see my other thread.

I am no mechanic but to me this doesnt seem right. What do I do now? Should I be as worried as I am about it?

Yes you should worry. Oil is oil, gas is gas. The mixture is calculated. By diluting oil and gas in the oil tank, that oil mixture is definitely changed. BTW, never heard of someone doing that. What was he thinking?

Start with that first: does your engine turn by hand? Remove the plugs and the plastic guard behind the engine and try to turn the engine by hand.

People will tell you here that the crank gets oil from a different hose (or something like that) than the rest of the engine so imagine mixing oil with gas in the oil tank so I can deduct that is has diluted the required amount of oil going in the crank. @mikidymac will tell you how it's done.

I read your other thread, it could still be your battery but your oil setup is a recipe for disaster.

Wow. Just wow...

Yes, you should worry about that, as well as anything else he did to the ski... The crankshaft gets oiled by the fuel/oil mix coming into the cylinders, so the crank is getting oil just fine in this situation. The problem is that the rotary valve is gravity fed from the oil tank, and it is a semi-sealed system, so it doesn’t receive any additional oil from the fuel mix. You need to empty that oil tank ASAP, change the oil filter, and flush the rotary valve cavity out so that it can refill with oil... I also highly recommend reconnecting the stock oil injection system. The previous owner had no idea what he was talking about, as the factory oiling system is super reliable.

Knowing what kind of maintenance the fuel and oil system got, I would also go through and do a full round of maintenance on the rest of the ski. Service the pump, clean the RAVE valves, rebuild the carbs. There is no telling what’s been done, so I’d go over everything...
