Hey, obviously a 1995 Speedster should be winterized prior to freezing weather. If the boat has been run on the garden hose, and then left out in freezing temperatures, the engine could be damaged.

30 degrees Fahrenheit ambient temperature for 3 or 4 days.

Do you think that would be cold enough to destroy the engines?

How cold for how long do you think it would take to cause damage?

Put a shop light with a metal cage (or no cage if it has a plastic cage) in the engine compartment with a 100 watt bulb. It will save the engine until you can get to it.

I threw a handful of "pocket warmers" into the engine bay. Some said they last 8 hours, some said 24 hours. I wont be able to do anything else for a few days. Hope it works. Others wise, I have two scrap Speedsters.

I would have just started them up and blown the water out of em. My friend does this a couple of times and that's it for winterization for him

I read that the maximum damage is at -4 deg C. not sure what is in F. I use to put 2 safety lights in the engine bay and it use to be toasty in there in the morning.

That equals 28.4. So I'd say what you read is pretty accurate. At that temp things freeze to a solid point.

+1 on the light bulb, one in there right now, still have to run all the flordia gas out and get non ethenol in there for storage.

The halogen 100w bulbs are very sensitive to poping the filament when they are hot/still glowing if you nove them around

When I first put a bulb in the engine bay. I only used one. I checked it out in the morning and it was burnt out. that's why I use 2 now.

I have two of these '95 Speedsters, and I put a 150 watt bulb in each engine bay. Two bulbs would be ideal for sure, but I would have to add a couple splitters, and i'm not sure 600 watts worth of bulbs would be a good idea on the end of 5 extension cords that are stung together. I will just have to check the bulbs every day when its freezing outside.
