easy fix for lift cyliinder alignment on front lid
The lift cylinder was not properly aligned when it was installed at the factory on 2005 era SeaDoo's.
Some folks drill out the rivets holding the bottom cylinder mount to relocate it which I through was to risky. With my luck I would have drilled through the hull.
Instead of moving the cylinder to line it up with the ball stud, you can move the ball stud by mounting it to a spacer so it lines up with the cylinder. First step- if the bracket is bent, take it off and use a hammer to pound it flat.
McMaster Carr sells a spacer (part no 93590A107) which can be attached to the upper mount ball stud and space the ball about 1 inch further away from the bracket it is mounted to. The spacer is a thick nut. Remove the ball stud from the bracket and screw it into one end of the thick nut. Buy a stainless M8 x 1.25 thread pitch x 10mm long hex head screw to attach the other side of the spacer/nut to the bracket the ball was originally mounted on. If the thread on the ball is to long and does not leave enough space in the nut for threads of the screw, then add a couple of washers between the ball and the nut.
