Don't feel bad, years ago I dropped a ss lock washer into an intake port of a BB Chevy, from the intake manifold! From then on I would never talk bad, or make jokes about anyone doing anything similar! It can happen to the best.....

Ive heard of surgeons leaving or dropping things in patients.

OK, either your a pro welder or I'm just crazy. Well, I know I'm not fully crazy, but that ain't a 5 minute fix. I have a tig at home and I still send stuff out cause it's cheaper than I can do it for. To do it right that needs to be tig welded, not brazed. Then set up in a CNC or a mill and properly machined. When it comes to my toy, I try hard not to cut corners especially in an engine. A set of cases are like a hundo or so.

It's not worth the time to fix it. As far as why not to use them, you don't want any link between the 2 ports for the possibility of air transfer. Now, they might be just fine as is but why chase your tail on a run issue later and have to tear evreything back apart?

$109 shipped, he has 2 sets. I'd ask for the one with the CB fill plug

$115 for a set of 96 cases shipped

ordered one of these and i dont think the case halves were matching, the rotary intake protrudes out further at the bottom along with other areas that look suspicious. How can i be sure they dont match are there numbers that should match ? should the numbers on the bottom and the id plate match?

I would look for a common chip, corrosion or something in the paint that could only come from same cases. If the paint is 2 different shades that should stand out. Out of all the white cases I have they are a varying degrees of white.

List the ebay auction that you bought them from.

nothing matches , from the machining of the rotary intake where they mate there is a bit of a lip, , to mismatching of wear grooves in the same area, to coloring of the halves as far as discoloration from normal use when it was in operation. And there is more . The bottom half is peeling from oxidation and the top has zero matching peeling or oxidation at the spots where they mate.

fixed.jpgpic of repaired rotary valve cover. you can still see some of the groove but there isn't a channel and less of a groove.

Mismatched. All you needed to highlight was the dirt on the outer lip of the RV on teh bottom of the case and there is none on the top.

Return them to the seller.

Post the link to the auction.

With that cover repair, you may need to check the clearance upon reassembly. You have essentially increased the rotary valve clearance. If it's now out of spec, you can fix it by applying valve grind compound to the mating surface and grind away the required amount.

its flat checked with sheet of glass and silcone

Not talking about it being flat. You have taken material off the face of the cover. Now the rv has more room to wiggle in that cavity. It might not be tight enough against the case now and may suck air from the other port.

It's flat and no material was taken off except for excess aluminum btazed on.

He had 2 sets, I wonder if he mixed them up? Did you request the one with the oil fill? If so perhaps he just swapped the tops and doesn't know any better than you need to have matched cases.

Does the crusty bottom have a drain plug?

Yes requested the one with fill plug. And got it. He claims he has been a seadoo mechanic for 25 years and said they areca match . BS I EXCLAIMED.

Wow, I would not want to ride anything he works on. I bet he's confused and frustrated a lot these past 25 years

That's cool. I'll bet that's why he only pictured them from the top and back. He knew what he did was wrong.
