New-to-me 2008 GTX is having a problem starting and I know you Forum
Readers will pinpoint it for me quickly....

When I pop the key on I get my 2 beeps and then all I get is a "click" when I push the start
button each time. I had attributed it to a broken post on the existing battery when I bought
the machine but now with a new battery it's obviously elsewhere...I tried 4-5 times just
getting the clicking noise each time. I pushed the start button again and then it started just fine...popped the key off then back on and started just like it normally should...

Taking it out a Sunday for maiden voyage but obviously I need to replace something
in the starting process.....can someone isolate the cause for me?

Thanks!

Starter solenoid, common failure item, follow the big red + wire from the battery to find the solenoid I'm not sure where it is on your model.

As the machine is not near me, I want to confirm what part you are referring to, Chris.

Is it #9 Relay Starter in this image?

If this is it, and it does appear so from your description......I actually have one sitting in my garage from buying some assortment of parts on a deal some years ago! Of course with my
luck......

I went ahead and replaced the relay and the machine fired right up...thanks for the help Chris!

Glad you got it fixed as the weather is too nice not to ride.

I keep a new solenoid on the shelf just in case whether it's for me or a riding buddy it might just save the day.

I'm pretty timely....that part was never bought for me but when it came with a bunch of other parts
about 3 years ago, and I got the 2008 a few months ago I realized it fit and left it on a shelf....

Lucky I guess though...first time that part has failed on me.
