Choke

When do you guys use the choke? I ´m using it all the time even if it 90f to start the engine (twin 787). Should I just give more gas to start the engines? It always take 15-20 seconds to start my engine...

I don't know all the parameters, but I do know that is an issue. You are running lean and NEEDING the choke to run the engine. Running lean it gets less oil and it will basically eat itself...

Someone with more knowledge of the 2-strokes will give more info, but I'm pretty sure I am correct..

I just use it to start the engine. Once it's running, I close it.

Yea I go all the way once and they start. Pull your flame arestor out and move the throttle by hand at the motor. You should see the accelerator nozzles shooting fuel down the carb throats. This primes the engine. Just yesterday I had to clear out those nozzles on mine because they were completely clogged.

ok I will try it tomorrow. Maybe I wasn't giving enought gas.

Regardless of air temp... you need extra fuel to start and run a "Cold" engine. SO... the first start of the day... and you will need a choke. OR... if it's been sitting for more than an hour... you will probably need the choke. OR... IF your engine has an accelerator pump... you can just pump it a few times to get the extra fuel.

BUT... if you need the choke after running... then something is wrong, and the carbs need to be rebuilt.
