im planing on picking up a 96 xp, because i am done with trying to mod my spi 580 to go fast. I plan on keeping it "BONE stock" intake great, extender plate and tabs maybe a nozzle at the most. no pipe no nothing just stock so it's realiable. Just wondering if anyone knows whats a better ski for an x4 with the 800. I noticed seadoo changed these modles around in terms of the accelerator pump. the 96xp didnt have it but the 97 xp did which i can understand because its sorta heavyer than an x4 hull. the 97 spx didnt have them but 98 and 99 spx's did. are those boats a little faster and stronger out the hole than a 96xp. anyone have any FEEDBACK please. thanks

No...not really.

I'd recommend that you go with the Mikuni without the accelerator pump. Even if there is a bit more out of the hole, if that 1" square diaphragm goes bad, it's over $200 bucks to replace. So, you figure out what's more economical in these hard times..........

:agree:
Personally I prefer without the accelerator pump. SeaDoo switched to using the accelerator pump to allow using a smaller low speed jet. This would prevent spark plug fouling while idling through a long no-wake zone.
