Awesome to hear Matt. There is one thing you need to practice....starts.

All you need is a long chunk of silicone hose, couple posts, and a few friends. You will need a couple guys to hold for you...usually people are helpful and will step in, but you are better off with guys you know and have practiced with.

Make sure to brapp out the waterbox before they are about to snap the line. Then they drop the rear of the ski in the water and you throttle as much as your holders can hold. Pull them a little...get right to the line.

Couldn't agree more but one other thing I was told when I started racing is learn to ride behind someone. Learn to ride in pump wash it can be done but its hard. Also learn to ride with wakes all of them coming together can push u around. When you blow out the exhaust don't just peg the rev limiter just 3 good wacks of the throttle will clear the box.if you have msd utilize the hole shot switch it allowes you to limit the engine to 3000 holding the throttle wfo for a good hole shot and not pulling your holders out into the lake. Most important HAVE FUN thats what its about not what place u get because u can only keep getting better

Good luck Matt

Dennis

I can't quite picture this yet but it sounds exactly like what I need to be doing. Could you help me see this a little better? No shortage of sticks weights and ropes around here.

I'm excited about the 24th. When I'm done with the buoys I can switch to my rec ski and explore that river with you guys.

take a round piece of wood,or pipe, ehh, about 2 feet long, tie a rope (heavy string) to the "pipe",make the rope 2-3 feet long(u will make it longer later,as ur arms get used to this)tie the other end to a weight,(a few lbs at first!!),then hold your arms straight out in front of you,and roll the pipe in your hands, bringing the weight up to the pipe.then roll it back down. IT WILL HURT ALOT when u first start doin it,but it will ease up.then add more weight, and a longer rope.check it out n let me know what u think,me n the kids do it to prpare for desert races, where if u cant hold on u could go down HARD.

Good luck to ya Matt, it sounds very exciting. Stay safe, learn lots and have fun.

Keep the shiny side up! (that saying doesn't really work for skis but you know what I mean)

get at it!!! i myself am going to look into racing this summer with my new ski, ive always wanted to try some amateur races!

Any update on your race day experience? Still going to try out racing?

Sorry to drop off the face of the earth guys. I had an unexpected split with the old lady. I don't think I'm gonna try my hand at racing just yet though it does still intrigue me, just haven't had the heart for it lately. I did go down to that practice and even got to run the coarse behind Bo Dupreist(World Champion racer and tuner) for a few laps. He's the Neptune Racing guy who's work has inspired me a lot. Not tying to bum any of you brothers out, just trying to explain how a guy goes from constantly monitoring everything Seadoo to silence.

I do have the coolest and fastest old Seadoos in the whole world(in my humble opinion ;)) so I will soon be using them and reporting on it.

Thanks so much guys for the help and good advice when I thought I was diving in.

Sorry to here about split Matt
:(

I'm sure it was not the first option

Your extended Seadoo family is here at your needs.

:grouphug:

I'm in a different spot now. I have no health insurance nor women on the beach to watch my two kids or scrape me up should I get banged up. I'll get the racers ready but it may be next year before I get all the other pieces back together.

Sorry to hear it Matt...but it allowed me to pick up some sweet goodies in your absence! (sorry I had to rub it in)

Ha-Ha that was great. Honestly Minne I've got plenty of goodies and I'm happy you've scored awesome parts. It's like Noah's ark of vintage Seadoo performance parts over here.......I got two of everything cool(at least). Let me know again when you do your camp/ride thing up there. I might make the drive and show you some real X4's :hat:

As for you Fl boys- I'd like to come down to the races in Tavares, Fl and at least check it out. Perhaps ride the area that weekend even if none of us wants to enter the race. Dennis(1995hx) lives around there and said he will be around. Let's get a plan together. Heck it's June 9th, there is a little time.

The big one is the dells freeride may 31-june 2, My event is the Lake City Sortie Aug 23-25th. Either one is the shizznit, but the Dells looks to have WAY more peeps.

Dennis (1995HX) says hes coming to the dells too.

I hope to have my 970 build finished by august if YOU wanna see a real seadoo. LOL ;)

OK OK I'm flip flopping' on y'all. Here is how it went: Sunday I'm hanging with the kids here at home and I here the unmistakeable sound of properly tuned two strokes. I look out toward the bay and see a small PWC zoom by. I already had a Doo floating in the back yard so I putted around to there set up and nosed up on shore. Turns out they were practicing for the Panama City IJSBA National tour stop and it's this weekend!!!

I started thinking about how close I am to be able to go out there and run around with the pros. I called the guy I met who rode last year and he is coming with two skis. He has his rider on his X4 and he is riding his Polaris Pro785. He said I could meet up with them to get my ski(skis) to and from the beach and whatnot. I went to Wally World tonight and rose up on a easy up and some beach chairs. I think this is going to happen.
