99 GSX 951 limited ....questions...
What's up everyone? New here...and if I get a ski or 2 this year I'm sure I'll be an active local very quick.. I'm very active on numerous other forums for diesel trucks and euro cars...just moved to the shore and now I need a ski haha...

A friend of mine has a few skis he looking to get rid of and I'd like to get them soon because the price is better than right...I have a few questions and looking for some input..
It's a 99 951 GSX limited edition...he put a brand new motor from seadoo in it ($2,500)
It started right up but would not stay running...he said the dealer told him it was probably the carbs..he is a mechanic and very knowledgeable, he checked out the carbs but the dealer said there is something in them internally that can't be tinkered with or whatever...he has another set he got off eBay that hes going to throw in..my questionmis does anyone know if the dealer sounds like he knows what hes talking about, or if anyone has had similar problems or can add any input...I'd be droping the skimand carbs off to my buddy who works at a cycle and ski dealer/shop who went to MMI and is very knowledgeable but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into and if anyone can throw anything else out there...
And anything else you can share about the 951 GSX would be awesomely appreciated ...

i have the same model. great machines! ive never had problems with mine and love every minute of riding it. im sure whatever the problem is, it can be fixed. does it still have the stock grey fuel lines?

Nice...umm I'll have to look...what's the difference in the grey lines? I'm guessing if they're not grey they're black?

if it still has the grey stock lines , it could be the problem. the grey lines breakdown and melt from the fuel. they gum up everything and cause alot of problems. these needed to be changed asap!. check in the forum there is plenty of info on this problem and the damage it can do.

The GSXL is a very good all around ski. $2500 is a great deal if you can get the carbs dialed in cheap.

Thanks ill look into the fuel lines....the $2500 is how much the motor was from the dealer, a few hundred more for the carbs, and $1500 for a new trailer...
I wont say how much im hoping to be into it for total untill it's all said and done, don't wanna jinx it haha

GSXL also pulls around $3k+ in my area as well...so I pretty much stole it !
It has had the grey fuel lines replaced....I'm going to get the carbs dialed in and everything gone over 100% next week..

Lines have been changed...most of them...3 have not been...there are two that look hard to get to..they go straight up and one that goes down to muffler...I'll try and get pics...
