97 XP stator/rectifier

97 XP here

Starts great, runs great. Go about 50 yards and it dies with zero warning. Engine turns over but won’t crank. After a while it will start again, but the same issue occurs shortly after.

Fuses all look good. The 5 fuse was making a different beep sound than the others so I switched it out.

Battery is showing 12v while running. When you rev the engine, it goes up to between 12.6-12.9v….never into 13 or 14v.

Is this a stator and/or rectifier issue?

Yes. Two beeps when you put the key in.

It is typically the DESS post on the handlebars. When they shut off it typically gives one beep. You pull the lanyard off and put it back on and it will start and run for another 50'.
