'97 SPX won't start

Filters were plugged so have rebuilt carbs, replace fuel lines, etc. Now getting plugs wet with gas but will not start. Tries to fire when dead cold, then nothing. Checking for spark, get a weak one when dead cold but slowly fades away. Does this sound like a bad coil?

I am having the exact same problem with my 96' XP. Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I have, also, cut 1/4" off the plug end of the wire and re-attached. No help. Can anyone tell me if you are supposed to be able to pull off the coil end of the wire and do the same?

think its a coil. Get them off ebay, somewhat cheap, or this site...

The coil had crossed my mind as well. Could it possibly be the rectifier as well?

unplug the red wire from it, then give try...
