my 97 gtx with a 787 it has a couple problems

1st - engine wont idle, when i let go of the gas all the way it dies, not instantly but it spuders then dies.

2nd - it wont accelerate quickly, i pull the throttle then it goes but it tops out at like 25-30, then if i let go of the throttle all the way and pull it real quick it will get mroe power and top out at like 40. or if i hit a wave when its topped out at 25-30 it will get more power again and speed up.

3rd - the trottle cable doesnt pull all the way out, when i pull the trigger all the way there is still slack in the cable, and when i pull on the slack it revs up. is this normal or should i get a new cable

4th - if im going all out and let go of the gas it will choke the engine and either kill it or come close to killing it. also if im going all out it will choke out and bog down then kick back up.

i have no experience with seadoo engines but ive rebuilt a couple mower engines and worked on alot of car engines, is there much of a difference between them?

wow, just looked at my engine and my rave valve melted off, i talked to my dad about it and he said he just replace it right before i took it out because the last one melted too. why this is happening

Your gasket for the valve is probably bad allowing heat to seep through and melt the cap.

How do I ask a question

I'll start out asking a dumb question, I have a 2005 3D and It is in showroom shape, I want to know what this Doo is Worth ?? I hope I am asking this question in the right location. If I am not can someone show me where to Post??

nope way off lol

would i be better off just replacing the entire rave valve assembly?

also do u guys think my carb has anything to do with it, its a 97 and its never been cleaned

Carbs

Dude, I have the same boat and had the exact same prolblem last summer. It was the carbs. My mechanic told me that these carbs from that year have a unique little valve or ball type assembly that plug up after time and have to be replaced. Once he did that it ran great. I doubt if your rave valves have any thing to do with your trouble. What kind of oil are you using. The best oil I have ever run is Ledgend ZX2- r. Its truly awsome and it smell good as well. No carbon build up or blowby at all. We have been using this on 3 boats and 6 snowmobile and never have to worry.Check out legendperformance.com They are based in Michigan. Good Luck..
