97 GSX Speedometer

Just bought it, the speedometer doesn't work, I'm thinking maybe a speed sensor? Anyone have this problem before....

96 GSX, same problem. I believe it is the speed sensor that causes the problem. It's located on the left side of the intake plate and I think it also provides the water temp but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I'm not sure if I'm going to fix mine as I've read here that they are less than accurate. For a true speed test I've read that a GPS is the way to go.
