I started this build about 2mnths ago weather.got.real cold so ive slowed down alot but so far pump swap is done and bottom of hull is painted, new motor mounts made and reinforced hull inside where I had to shave to install the 155 pump shoe and pump and re gelcoated the.inside black because I do.t like white on places that tend.to.get dirty

Im running 951 .75 over pistons, white pipe, r&d Intake, prok flame arrestors, solas concord 14/19, carbon pipe from.white pipe to waterbox, in the makings of my carbon fiber waterbox now, msd enhancer ill post pics later having problems with my phone

I used 1/2in plate aluminum to make.the motor mounts I had the full driveline in and used a mock block to line it all up 3m 5100 everything in place then.glassed in.the mounts made them smooth then regelcoated it all came out good for first time ive ever done it, then bolted white pipe, painted orange to mock block for a fit see how everything looks did a little grinding by the left hatch area

I threw the gas tank and rear bearing back in to mold my carbon pipe to.correct shape, took it out glassed it then over lapped the ends to make them match the same diamter as pipe, the inside diamter is 2.25inches, 3 layers strong as steal, only thing left to that is to.block it down.amd clear it with automotive clear, first time making anything out of carbon.fiber, came out good to me

Yea I posted it there to,i didnt have much done when I posted it there just been slowly adding, but my cylinders should be back from shop in the next day or so, get it back together and painted and mounted in the hull, I have the xpl complete running gear, I have the driveshaft at an axle shop right now getn cut and shortened about 3 inches, because the xpl stuff is way stronger than the hx stuff also the.newer stronger xpl stuff went.to.6 teeth instead of 4 like the old stuff was

I like the Foose diecast Chargers, LOL.

A question on the gas cap, I assume the carbon is just resin'd to the OEM cap then cleared. Anywho, it looks cool!

Yea we could figure oyr what color to paint the big wall in my game room so we have a 30ft wall of hot wheels and yes its jist layed over,it was the first thing I ever did with carbon had no idea what I was doin or how it would turn out

so you used a ride plate and pump-shoe off a 951 machine? Are these pumps different for the 4-tecs? Is it a pump-volume difference, or just an impeller or spline difference? How about the intake tunnel, don't you think it's going to starve the pump some as it's designed for a 140mm? I saw that you widened it out some to match the diameter at the end, but what of the rest?

I ask because I'm strongly considering putting a car engine into my challenger. These 787s make terrible boat engines!

I'm using the hx ride plate And grate, modified heavily, the pump shoe itself hangs down about 1/4 in further than the 140mm pump shoe did, the entire impeller isn't under water at full throttle at most about half and with a scoop grate I would say no more than 3/4 full of water especially in chop, this is just like a fun project of mine I don't race because there is nowhere near me to race, the 4tec pumps are a little larger with more veins, don't know much about them they are plastic as well mine I'm using is a brass 6 vein I think, I channeled the tunnel I would say a total of 6-8 inches I to the tunnel opening but reglassed the surface to. Ale it really smooth and I used some thickening agent in the resin the first 2 inches away from the pump makes the resin throng as steel but real hard to get smooth, yes I think the larger pump is necessary for the motor it won't be as efficient as a factory 155mm tunnel but will flow better than any aftermarket pump that goes inside a 140mm pump show

I would put in a ls1 aluminum block for the weight to power ratio cut the entire section out of a 951 ski with the tunnel and everything and cut the same section out your boat and reglassed the 155mm section in your boat, just my 2 cents

I would love to be able to support an LS1, but I'm going for something way more basic. Fuel efficiency is near the top of my priorities. I'm going to stuff a little 4-cyl, mainly for reliability, fuel economy and noise level. These boats were fun when gas was $1.00/gal, but not when it's near $80 to fill up for a day. I have this POS dodge neon that just needs to die, but the engines they put in were actually pretty nice. I'd rather use an actual seadoo 4tec, but there's just no way I could come by even a broken ski for less that $2k. This Dodge motor will add about 20hp and about 50ft-lb of torque. I think it may even work with the stock pump setup. I may just try it that way first as I have a ton of pumps and parts for that setup. I plan to use a sprocket to drive the shaft, so I may make it spin up to 8k rpm. We'll see... I know there will be like 50 ppl here that think this is a dumb idea, but they are the ones that have big trucks for the big boats and don't see the fun in doing things like this. I honestly CAN'T WAIT to clear my schedule to get started :D

I got my power valve bases drilled today, i only messed up 1 good thing I had 5 to work with, now im gona order same blue line to match my fuel line in 1/8 if.i can get just 1ft of it that would be great
, you can see the tiny hole it was very difficult to get the angle right and such a small bit without snapping it off in the hole

Huh? What does this mean? Drilling power valve bases? Why? Would my 787 benefit from something like this? I have a continual problem with them leaking oil/melting pistons/popping off the rubber. In fact, I hate the RAVES more than anything else on these skis. I wish they'd just work!! (and yes, i've replaced EVERYTHING on them, they don't last a season)

No you drill the power valves on the 951 to make them work like the 787 u see the 788 already had that hole in there and the 951s do not thats why theres a vent tube that cones off the 951 power valve because it runs else where to make.them work but with the hole they work from.the motor and.vents are no longer needed

I would have to say your problem is else where , where do you have the red caps set at, if you have replaced everything on the valve have you checked the slot.that the blade slides down into carbon gets built alot right there and.if they dont move up and down freely theres a problem, take both caps off and push down on one and see if.the other one moves at all this will let you know if there free to move, you can also drill a small hole in the big black cap and.crank the motor up on the hose and rev your ski up to see if there moving up and down like they should, hope this helps im no expert at all

Depending on whether it's the boat or the xp, I have them either all the way in, or flush. Irregardless of that though, they both end up melting raves... at $200/engine/rebuild I really can't afford it. I find myself checking them every ride and more times than not, I find a problem :(

I really dont know what to tell you on that one ive never heard of one ski doing that much less 2 owned by the same person, have you checked the.compressiion numbers on both your motors, make.sure.your running the.correct octane level for compression number

Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2

I just find it hard to believe that no one else has this problem, especially if they are replacing it all. There has to be something else wrong with your ski...the raves are proven to be good and reliable...

Well I was assembling my motor yesterday, I got my cylinders back friday found a piece of bearing retainer broke off laying in betweeb bearing and seal so the crank.which I thought was good is not goin to scrap pile ,saving for a new crank Merry Christmas to me
