Hey Guys,

Been going through my new to me xp and started looking at the pump/nozzle setup.

It currently has an 85mm exit nozzle with a stock 95mm steering nozzle. It has other goodies like a spec 2, msd, novi, skat swirl, etc but was scratching my head at the nozzle combo.

Will I gain much by going to a 87mm nozzle? Hull already has aftermarket trim tabs, UMI and large twist sponsons and handles pretty good.

I think I just answered this, your one of the folks that's been texting me right? Anyway I'd rather do it here where future readers can also benefit from the info.

The best performance comes from a steering nozzle that is 2 or 3 mm larger then the reduction nozzle. 85/88 is usually the size that brings the best overall performance on the 787 powered skis. Yours has no trim ring so the last guy gave up on having VTS or a drop nozzle.

Your 85 is a performance part that was found in the old Hot Products catalog. Your steering nozzle is off an old(early 90's) base model ski. The guy just bolted on what was laying around, he did not put that combo together on purpose if he knew what he was doing.

Agree with Matt. I bought a couple of 85/88 nozzles from him and couldn't be happier with the performance.

What is the stock 1996 GTX 787 nozzle size ? What performance gains would be realized with a nozzle change ? Yep... I am new to this stuff. lOL

A GTX is too heavy of a hull to notice a real gain on. Tighter nozzles would just load your engine more I'm afraid. On the light hulls there is another mph or so to gain from the right nozzle combo without suffering in any other areas. A little longer nozzle does not hurt either for noticing sharper turns and more pronounced reactions to VTS position changes.

Thanks for giving me the scoop, I was just curious. Even the slow skis are way fast enough for me. :)
