Ok so here's the update... It went very well except for some cavitation of the line... Now I got a new wear ring, new prop. I checked the carbon ring and it seems to be ok. I gotta look further into the carbon ring. It ran awesome. The speed and acceleration were incredible except for the cavitation but once it got goin it moved something crazy!! Wow!!! :)sorry I did not get a pic.

Hey yall!! Its been a while, my apologies! Been having tons of fun out on the lake with friends and family, the spx has been a huge success! I went to the lake today to with some of my buddies from the shop and the boat was running terrible. It wouldnt idle and it would surge with power and then stall, then surge and then stall, all while having the throttle held wide open. Pulled the seat off on one of the runs and one of those dang exhaust plugs rusted through and was spraying water all over the inside of the hull. also it was spraying water from the exhaust pipe/manifold connection gasket. I've done some research all over the site and noticed that people seem to be reporting similar issues with the water leaks and power problems...... I thinking that the intake is catching some of that water mist and causing it to run poorly?? Any way, i found a guy and picked up 2 xp's and a double trailer for $400, (no titles) but one unit is all stock and the other has every performance upgrade you could imagine. I'm gunna try to swap pipes and get a new gasket and hope that solves my issue!! Pictures soon to come!

Oh and I forgot to show you my new traction mats from SBT, Blacktip black and white marble! I've been very happy with them, the white even cleans up after getting sand and clay on them!

New xp parts boats!

The unit on the left is all stock as far as I can tell

The unit on the right has lots of goodies on it :D:D
-trim tabs
-umi steering and finger throttle
-upgraded carbs (not sure what kind yet)
-factory pipe
-upgraded intake grate
-upgraded controlled cooling system?
- aftermarket prop
-high compression head

I think even though they don't have the titles, for $400 for the 2 boats and the double trailer, I'll be sitting just fine having extra parts for everything with options to upgrade haha:coolgleam:

Hey yall!!! Happy Friday!!!! Wanted to give an update to the surging issues i had that I had mentioned earlier. I really hope this will help out people with the same issues!

So as i had said the exhaust water plug had rusted through and was spraying water. I had suspected that the stream of water was close enough to the intake that mist was making its way into the air box and ultimately into carbs and combustion chamber. I pulled pipe and jb-welded the pipe and let it sit out in the sun for 2 days. While i had the thing apart i went through the carbs there was water in the air box and in the carb bodies. So I was 100% sure that was my issue. Cleaned out the carbs, retested the pop off pressures, the carb bodies and the fuel pump for air leaks.....everything was good to go! Took it to the lake and it was running much better, but when leaning into a turn or jumping a wave it would bog down.

So i checked in the boat and i could smell some raw fuel. I pressure tested the gas tank, and there were no leaks. Checked the fuel lines and again no fuel leaks. So for kicks i wanted to check the fuel filter thats mounted under the steering. I noticed the housing was loose, so i pulled it and cleaned it. While putting it back on the fuel filter cap wouldn't tighten, it would snug and then the threads would pop and it be loose again. So had to replace that. Had High hopes that that would be the problem.

Once replaced the boat is running better than it ever has!!! I guess what was happening is that that fuel was able to leak out of the fuel filter cap/housing when the boat was tilted enough in any direction causing the fuel line to the fuel pump to draw air!

Any way hope this helps someone someday!!

Have fun everybody and live some life!

And I may have found my next big project! Those 2 title-less xp's that I've pictured earlier may end up being a single or dual power plant for a small jet boat kit my father and i purchased when i was about 14!

The boat is originally designed to be a flat bottom, 2 seater, speed boat.....with some work i will make her a v-bottom jet boat! The boat hasn't yet been built, but heres a pic from someone elses build.

Here is a good read if you plan to mod that boat to a jet. Best part is you have what you need parts wise. http://www.miniboatmadness.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=5&id=46&Itemid=110
